  • Lee R. Lawing: Planning Ahead

A snappy and funny little moment in time when being too gung-ho about your beliefs can get you into trouble or at least lose you valuable time in planning a very important day.

  • Lee R. Lawing: Haunted House (a monologue)

Weaver's writing always impresses, even in the shortest of pieces. Although short, the tension builds with each line until you are standing back realizing you haven't let a single breath leave your body the entire time.

  • Lee R. Lawing: Then (a short audio play for one voice)

Carbajal captures so much of how the world is feeling right now, with Covid weariness and if the world will ever return to its former self and people can connect on all those levels we used to connect on with no fear or worry or of any danger other than the common cold.

  • Lee R. Lawing: THE BEGINNING OF EVERYTHING

I love the marking of each day physically as a grounding exercise. Like the old fashioned desk calendars that I can actually see and depose of the old day for the new. This beautiful tale of a possible new life on another planet that we hopefully wouldn't destroy over time is so beautifully simple and direct about the possibilities of new life and the reality of what space travel would be like for those on a certain mission to try and begin again when sometimes, it's better to slow down time and live out our lives day by day.

  • Lee R. Lawing: A SUMMER OF SPRING

I was able to listen to this heart wrenching story in an audio recording and they did a masterful job in bringing Lermond's characters and lines to life. The thing I took away most is that no matter what life deals you and no matter the heartache you may face the universe gives some of us second chances that we never expected. Lermond capture this perfectly with her masterful tale of family and what that really means for these characters.

  • Lee R. Lawing: Collateral Damage and Other Cosmic Consequences

The saying “karma is a bitch” gets a new meaning in this very funny play about one woman’s plan of revenge. New relationships are hard and this one is the biggest one yet with an alien species taking over the world and making all kinds of promises to those they rule just like we all do at the start of a relationship. Two people meet up at an alien lab and it just might be that the they will find a connection through a baseball game if they live to see tomorrow.

  • Lee R. Lawing: What Men Do Alone on Islands

As men, even if we are down to the last two beings on this planet, it's funny that it would more the likely come down to the dick and how big each of the men are. There are so many great one-liners in this play. I'll never be able to think of a . . . oh, wait, that's beside the point because MacDermott had me laughing so much throughout. It would be such a great play to see live!

  • Lee R. Lawing: The Remote (a ten minute play)

This is one that threw me a delightful curveball and I love, love, love the line "You've never spouted television before!" I can see why this one would be a crowd pleaser at any and all festivals!!! Do yourself a favor and read this funny, funny play!

  • Lee R. Lawing: The Cool Go Kart -- a monologue

You've got to love a kid who sneaks down and watched Mad Max after he's been told not to. Tommy is facing so much in this monologue, a divorced mom or widow who is trying to date and try again at finding love and this is never easy for anyone and especially for young kids who or the parents who have to try and win over their date's children. Tommy is such a kid and is so relatable about being upset about not getting the cool go kart. He knows he's going to be Mad Max when he grows up

  • Lee R. Lawing: LADY COPS

This was one of my favorite shows ever back in the day and these two women were so well played by Sharon Gless and Tyan Dyley . Carnes provides us with so many laughs and insight to the sad truth that even for many places of work, women are still faced with an unequal share and promise of what they could be and should be.
