Excuse me while I wipe away my tears. Salant truly crafts come complex and incredibly human characters in this piece that deals with heavy material with a tender hand. You feel for all of the characters and even cry with them. I am incredibly impressed by this piece and think that after reading it once, I want to read it again, as my director's mind is going wild with possibilities. A great choice for any theatre who really wants to create an intimate piece and focus on character work. Great job!

  • Megan Ann Jacobs: Overqualified

I was not prepared for the astounding accuracy Vansant brings to this short piece. I see so many of my friends and family dealing with this exact issue. I love Vansant's wonderfully worded piece. It would be a great work to feature in any 10-minute play festival! Great work!

Short sweet pieces that all revolve around New York. Great little one-minute pieces and it even has Einstein!

  • Megan Ann Jacobs: Fable

Unlike many of those who have recommended this piece, I am not familiar with the musical "Gypsy." However, I feel like I am now. The theme of 'who has the right to tell your story' has always spun around and around in my head. I think it's fascinating and DeVita proves that it is. This quick and witty piece makes you fall in love with June and each scene leads you directly into the next. Very well done!

  • Megan Ann Jacobs: AN ESTUARY

Malakhow shames me as a playwright with this being their first draft, wow! The talent of navigating the complex genre of mystery is one to keep tabs on and surprised me several times. How Malakhow weaves these two stories together is almost dance like. I look forward to seeing where this draft goes in the future, but I believe it is absolutely ready for a staged reading if not a performance. Wonderful!

Hageman leaves you speechless with this incredibly relevant piece of work. Too often I think we shy away from these tough topics for kids, but the child truly suffering is exactly the child that needs to know they are not alone. This is a powerful piece that I think should be truly looked at by theatre professionals who do traveling shows to middle schools and high schools. Great work!

  • Megan Ann Jacobs: Messages

A piece that is well-written and the characters communicate with realistic dialogue. Where Sapio really shines, however, is how he marries a concept that I absolutely love, messages in a bottle, and take the romance out of it a bit as he gives us an important call to action.

  • Megan Ann Jacobs: The Taking Tree

This show is powerful! It is difficult to attack the complicated nature of mental health - it is even more challenging to open that dialog with those still in their early years. This piece does not only exactly that but in 10-minutes. Well done!

  • Megan Ann Jacobs: A House by the Side of the Road

Even though I was never a huge fan of baseball, I am a fan of this play. The poetic way Williams describes this past time through the window of the radio and does a fine job doing it. This piece is more than a gentle reminder of the past but has some depth to it that really makes it "hit home" regardless of the reader's affiliation with America's pastime.

Comedy combined with a bit of a PSA. A great moment captured in 60 seconds!
