  • Jackie Martin: To See And Be Seen

I was able to watch a streamed production of “To See and Be Seen,” and I was truly moved by Mabey’s script. A heartfelt, touching story about connection and the very human desire to be seen for who one really is. This would be great for any short play festival, virtual or otherwise.

  • Jackie Martin: TONIGHT AT THE STAGE DOOR

I was lucky enough to see the Taphouse Theatre’s virtual performance of this piece. It was funny and touching, and it made me grateful to be part of a community of theaterfolk. Jimmy and Charlie have distinct voices, and when you put them together, they hit all the right notes.

  • Jackie Martin: Rising Sophomore

"Rising Sophomore" is a beautiful exploration of one young man's awakening to who he really wants to be, now that he has had the time to think about who he was before. Minigan is a master of creating months or even years of backstory in a short play through action and dialogue. His young characters are always written wonderfully, and these two young men are no exception.

  • Jackie Martin: Curves (a monologue)

Funny, relatable, and ultimately triumphant, "Curves" would be a joy to watch or perform.

  • Jackie Martin: 7 Weeks, 3 Days

Heartbreaking and moving, with a cathartic ending, "7 Weeks, 3 Days" hits all the right notes. A great short play for teen actors.

  • Jackie Martin: I, Grilled Cheese (a monologue)

I, GRILLED CHEESE made me laugh right out loud. This monologue is great for a performer who understands that the key of comedy is to take your character's journey very seriously- it would be a lot of fun to watch in the right hands. Thanks for this, Matthew Weaver - even if I *am* going to think twice before my next meal of grilled cheese and tomato soup. (Ok, who am I kidding, I'll still eat it - I'll just chuckle while I do.)

  • Jackie Martin: Golden Record

This play is an absolute blast - I'm not sure if I'd prefer to watch it from the audience or perform it as one of the alien buddies. I love the premise and the apparent new genre - "the footnote play." Produce it, please!

  • Jackie Martin: The Dobler Effect

A fantastic romantic comedy for two mature actors. The premise is unexpected but brilliant. Who hasn't wanted to either be or be wooed by Lloyd Dobler? Well, maybe Didi, but she strikes me as a practical gal. I predict this one will be produced many times over, and I hope to be in the audience when it is.

  • Jackie Martin: One Small Step

A lovely play, encompassing a couple's entire history and future in 10 minutes. The characters and dialogue are so real, the story heartbreaking but hopeful. "One Small Step" would be a great addition to any short play festival.

  • Jackie Martin: FAMILY BY NUMBERS Award-winning 10-minute drama

Arianna Rose tells a moving and heartbreaking story with originality and theatricality. Lyrical and haunting, "Family by Numbers" will stay with me for a long time.
