  • Chris Gacinski: Gee, Your Butt Smells Terrific

Short play festivals, keep your eye out for this comedy. Guaranteed laughter, and a costumer’s dream. I can only imagine what these dogs would look like on a stage.

  • Chris Gacinski: It's an Espresso Drink with Foamy Steamed Milk

This was a fun, two minute play, packed with at least 5 mins of laughs. A great piece for a short play festival.

  • Chris Gacinski: Seven Raisins Soaked in Gin

If you’re ready for an adventure through time and Japanese folklore, look no further than “Seven Raisins Soaked in Gin.” Funny and trippy with a robust blend of literary and symbolic allusions, I was glued to these pages throughout the script. This would be very fun material for actors, directors and audience alike!

  • Chris Gacinski: KIP: A KID MONOLOGUE

A comedic and interactive monologue that must be praised for Wyndham’s ability in making the dialogue sound natural. The reader can easily discern the age-range of Kip based on how he talks. A fun 5 minutes of theatre. Well done, Asher!

  • Chris Gacinski: Discovery

A tragic and searing 10-minute where a lawyer is confronted with a case that challenges him in more way than one. We feel for these characters, we feel Vince’s pain when talking about his brother, and honestly, it’s quite hard not to. That’s why Bicknell’s “Discovery” is a powerhouse of a play. Highly recommended.

  • Chris Gacinski: ONE IN THE CHAMBER

A creative, detailed, and harrowing play that showcases a backward cultural ideal that American society has enveloped themselves in. A thought-provoking piece that demands change in our thinking. Well done, Mr. Burdick.

  • Chris Gacinski: Overqualified

Vasant’s relatable topic, paired with her beautifully creative writing/ideas, makes “Overqualified” a fun and interesting look into the world of job hunting, interview etiquette, and the struggle of finding suitable employment, especially since Joey (or Josephine) completed her BA as a straight-A student with accolades. The praise for this piece and Vasant’s writing is well-deserved. Highly recommended!

  • Chris Gacinski: The Man They Turned Into a Dog by Osvaldo Dragun (translation)

Riveting and oddly lighthearted, Vansant’s “The Man They Turned Into A Dog” is formulaic, balanced, and is just as interesting as it is compelling. This is unlike anything I’ve read on NPX. If you’re interested in political satire until an absurdist lens, this play is for you!

  • Chris Gacinski: SECRET'S OUT

As mentioned before, the dialogue is believable. The conversation Darnell and Carlos have are organic, comedic, and insightful at times. If a company is looking for a fun, comedic and well-written comedy, look no further than Burdick’s “Secret’s Out.”

  • Chris Gacinski: The Cost of Dying

A suspenseful, eerie piece that shows a calm and collected, and oddly humanitarian assassin and his victim in a confined space. The mere presence of the assassin creates tension, and his lines create even more. “The Cost of Dying” explores an interesting dynamic between the two, and how their lines of work aren’t entirely different from the other. A hidden gem on NPX.
