  • DON'T LOOK AT ME LIKE THAT- a 2 minute monologue
    18 Oct. 2022
The speaker makes a compelling argument why we shouldn't judge her. When she says don't look at me like that, it's directed not just at the unseen listener (an adult child), but all of us. This short monologue asks big questions about marriage and taking care of a love one. A great voice for the stage. A great role for a senior actor in their 70s.
  • Mother(land) Will Teach You That, A MONOLOUGE
    18 Oct. 2022
There are some shocks in this monologue, some zaps just like the referenced electric fence. You get them from the speaker, unexpectedly, and makes you think differently about who this person is. There's a danger for the listener, the unseen girl, that disturbs you. Even more disturbing is that it comes from someone acting like a nice old woman. A great role for an actor.
  • To the Class of Miskatonic University 2022

With imagery that makes me think of a Scooby Doo cartoon, this graduation speech smartly pokes fun at the state of higher education in America and how colleges treated students during the pandemic. A great choice for your Halloween showcase.

Delivered almost matter-of-fact, this monologue comes from the heart of a man struggling most definitely with PTSD but also with his place in this world after his war experiences. Conjuring hellish images of war, Soucy's monologue will stay with you. Perfect for a festival on war and veteran themes.

These few pages offer a lot for performers and directors in respects to space, movement, and intimacy. The language of body feels communal and holy, fearless and sexy. Beautiful writing that our stages need right now.

A beautiful memory of unexpected connection at a gas station. Makes you smile. Another winning monologue with great description.
  • Three Items from my Truck: A Monologue

The slow build as more detail is dispensed makes your mind wander-wonder. It's creepy because your mind goes there. What dark thoughts come into your head? This definitely up there as one of my fav monologues on NPX.
  • I Hate Hospitals - A 2 MINUTE MONOLOGUE
    8 Oct. 2022
Digging deep into the emotional state of her speaker, while perfectly detailing the dissolution of a marriage caused by the other spouse's mental illness beyond repair, Cole devastates us. Read it out loud, take your time. My favorite monologue by her. A smart choice for any monologue on marriage and mental illness.
  • Night in Tunisia (a monologue)

With this short piece, another intimate one that unsettles us, Sickles really makes us think about the future impact of right-wing/Christian nationalism in American -- abroad. This is an imagined future that might come true. if Republicans gain more or total control, not only will our country be radically different in respects to rights and freedoms for LGBTQ folx, but our travel outside the country would also be impacted.

What a great short play for scenic and lighting designers looking for a challenge. A great way to collaborate with an actor and director beat by beat.
