  • Asher Wyndham: Ashes of the Revolution

Immediately charming, this play for two kids hits the funny bone and tugs on the heart strings.

  • Asher Wyndham: Her Too

I had the pleasure of seeing this play at the Midwest Dramatists Conference in KS. An unsettling play that makes you think about the power of toxic masculinity in the family to shape roles and define love.

  • Asher Wyndham: False Cognates

This isn't far-fetched -- it captures perfectly an ignorance and stupidity that many white playwrights have.
It's going to make theatre people laugh out loud because it's ridiculously funny, and also make them angry.

  • Asher Wyndham: A Semicolon is a Double

Makes an important point: coming out is still a difficult thing for teens in parts of the US.
Takes the nerd-meets-jock storyline in an unexpected direction with an arresting emotional development.
If you're producing a Queer festival, connect with Rinkel.

  • Asher Wyndham: 1,001 Flavors

    So delightful it's yummy.

  • Asher Wyndham: The Maltese Walter

    Now this is entertainment.
I was hooked from beginning to end and pleasantly surprised.
This may be the best noir short play I've read. Definitely one of my favorite short comedies on NPX.

  • Asher Wyndham: Funny, Like An Abortion

This play tackles the divisive issue of abortion, surprisingly, through dark comedy, a biting satire that's unapologetically political and feminist. The kids-themed-party, complete with gift bags and cupcakes, is an unusual setting to address abortion, but it's one that forces us to imagine "maybe soon" a dystopian America for women who resort to DIY-at-home abortions. This play reminds us of the options and abortifacients used by women in the past to end pregnancy.
This is uncomfotable theatre - necessary theatre - dangerous theatre.
Read this, develop, produce, use it for protest.

  • Asher Wyndham: Survivor Guilt

It's poetic, but it doesn't feel contrived because the emotions feel so raw and real.
A great role for an elderly gay man.
This should be included in any showcase on AIDS or elderly gay issues.

  • Asher Wyndham: Zero

It's like crossed between Hogwarts School for teenage fuckups (minus the magic) and Sarah Kane's sanitorium in the play Cleansed.
It's ugly, but pretty ugly, if that makes sense, in yer face with it, kind of like a video from My Chemical Romance.
There's an insensity to Zero's depression that many of us could relate to, that feeling of nothingness.
But there's a surprising hopefulness, a reminder that even when you're at your bottom, even when you feel powerless, there's someone to connect to. Read this!
The narrative structure offers designers a fun challenge.

  • Asher Wyndham: Three Hours Until Departure

Like this character I owe a lot in student loans (actually more!). At first I was humored. And then it hit me, this guy's struggle, his desperation, his terrible choice says a lot about all of us post-college and post-grad that are struggling, hoping for freedom from debt.
This subject of student loan debt needs to be explored more on the American stage.
Thank you Gacinski for addressing it.
