With a voice that feels like it was straight from a recording, O'Grady captures immediately a likeable character because her fears and anxiety, her hope for the future is our own.
This monologue makes you think - yeah, Afghanistan is not the United States, but there's an inevitability of violence in both places, gun violence can happen any time, any place.

Arming teachers to defend students from attackers is not some widespread practice, not yet; however, that doesn't mean this play is far-fetched. It's happening already in a few school districts. This is a wake-up call to administrators -- what happens if you start losing your best teachers after allowing teachers to carry guns? This would be a smart choice for any festival or staged reading on gun control.

Weaver is a master of the art of the short play, and it's really hard to choose a best play. This one, hilarious and poignant, should be a staple play for any festival on marital abuse and domestic violence. If you work for a theatre interested in feminist themes, read this.

The choice of character for this monologue -- a know-it-all, the kind of showoff kid that annoys other kids by answering every question -- is totally unexpected. Because it would be hard to relate to such a student. But it's her realization that wins us over and makes us feel for her. This would be a great choice for a monologue competition.

This is may the sexiest short play in the history of short plays. This is the kind of play that will inspire audience members to -- not change the world -- kiss more. More kissing, more joy! Weaver just gets better and better, wow. I like that this play is for actors of any gender -- so it can be played by two women or two men.
