  • Asher Wyndham: I'm a Cheater

"Now what?" What happens after this monologue? How can this student improve her Algebra grade, if she has such a difficult time remembering the answers? Students like her, who study for hours without retaining anything or getting nervous on Tuesday big day, can relate to her. It's a warning to students who are tempted to cheat, knowing the consequences if caught. What could your school do for these students? This would be a good play (along with Cole's other monologues) that would inspire conversation and, hopefully, some change.

  • Asher Wyndham: Borderline Disorder

If you're producing a stage reading of plays on undocumented immigrants and family separation near the border, choose this one-minute play. This could produced in a traditional theatre or a public space, maybe outside City Hall, before or after a protest. It creeps up in you and startles you with its ending. This play is a sad reminder of state of the country in the Age of Trump, it's a realistic scene of what's going in the court system right now, an outcome of our evil administration. It's a little play that will make you and your audience angry.

  • Asher Wyndham: Cruella Couture - CHILD/TEEN MONOLOGUE

A kid or teen would have devilish time bringing this classic character to the stage, esp. at a competition. This would be fun for a first time costume designer.

  • Asher Wyndham: Downstream

A great analogy, a teen is similar to a salmon (!). This really makes you think about how a moment like asking someone out to the Homecoming Dance takes on an epic proportion in the mins of a teen. I would love to see a festival of Cole monologues for teens.

  • Asher Wyndham: Fox Tail

Like a fox, this teen character who wears a bushy fox tail that she found online is just as solitary as that animal. Why does she like to be alone? Sometimes it's a strength to not care what people think, but these kind of people that attempt to disguise themselves with an eccentricity may be hiding some pain... This little gem of a monologue makes me think about that. Another good monologue for a teen monologue. I could read a Cole teen monologue every day!

  • Asher Wyndham: Fierce

Any kid who ever feels like they don't belong, feels different than their peers, could relate to this teen character. That desire to be fierce against all odds -- that's something anyone can relate to. This would be a smart choice for a short teen actor for forensics and competition.

  • Asher Wyndham: Cost of Living

One of my favorite reading experiences of all time. Perfectly paced development of relationships, building in startling intimacy, spiritual and sensual and sexy. The bathing scene! Producers --this should be your first choice for a play on disability to consider for your season. Marvelous, masterful work!

  • Asher Wyndham: The Gospel According to the Snake (a monologue)

Weaver surprises me, especially with his Bible-themed/inspired plays. This one is definitely inappropriate for church or any place of worship (unliked the others)-- it's positively wicked and funny!

This would be a challenging play for a costume designer.
If the snake is swallowing an animal during the monologue, then is this monologue's voice in voice-over? If so, then this would be a great play for a sound designer.

This is a monologue that can be performed by teens and adults. Highly recommended for any festival on Biblical themes or alternative perspectives on Bible stories or...

  • The bubbling sexual chemistry between these two characters is so charming, so perfectly developed.
I would love to see these two characters in a longer play.

This would be a smart choice for two college students learning acting for the first time.

  • Asher Wyndham: Prometheus Shrugs

A playful take on the Greek myth of Prometheus that surprisingly speaks to us today about friendship. It makes you think about the beauty of predictability and routines of friendship. This would be a hit at any festival on myths (esp Greek myths) or any comedy showcase. This is a perfect comedy with the liveliness of a David Ives short play. The hugging in this play -- it's so sweet!!! This would be a fun, challenging play for beginning design and costume designers in high school and college.
