  • Nora Louise Syran: For Sure Gonna Die

Super monologue. Love the progression, the imagery, repetition. This is an important one to read (see performed, perform!) to help understand what our anxious loved-ones are going through. Eye-opening. Beautifully done.

  • Nora Louise Syran: Person (A Monologue)

A lovely and "simple" short play by playwright and producer Rachel Feeny-Williams. "Simple" in the best way possible, the most universal way as its chock-full "basic" truths we all need to be reminded of. Brava. (And brava also for bringing together so many creatives to record it--further underscoring the piece's humanity)

  • Nora Louise Syran: GONE AWAY IS THE BLUEBIRD (10-MINUTE PLAY)

So adorable. A new Christmas classic with vintage touches and lovely messages that will warm the cockles of your heart! Full of fun characters, a great (nostalgic for many) setting, I'd love to see this one on stage (or screen!) soon.

  • Nora Louise Syran: 13 Seconds with Lin-Manuel Miranda

Love this super sweet short two-hander with what feels like a cameo-of-sorts of Lin-Manuel Miranda; so appreciate the moral of one of my favorites: "Only connect" (E.M. Forster) as that -between humans, between fellow creatives - really is enough. The effect this encounter has had on this young writer is just perfect. Brava!

  • Nora Louise Syran: Fahrenheit Ho Ho Ho

Sam Heyman not only has taken on a wacky surprise Secret Santa Title but signed himself up for a holiday bake-off of his own wonderfully crazy and imaginative Santa Sack time and space bending making! One more thing to say: Language!

  • Nora Louise Syran: Things I Learned While Careening Toward the Center of the Universe

A lovely short play with some amusing physical humor, easy staging and mechanical airplane malfunctions to amuse actors and audience alike. A little gem for the holidays.

  • Nora Louise Syran: Samson

I can see a whole series of these tales alluding to Biblical pride, folly, greed, cruelty etc told through a lens only Ken Love could conjure up. Intense!

  • Nora Louise Syran: Forgive Thyself

A two-hander with whiskey--which is a good thing as Father Dan is going to need it. There's a lot to mull over in this piece. What if we really are living in a clockwork universe we share with our Creator? It's simple in terms of staging but will definitely leave an audience with something to think about.

  • Nora Louise Syran: The Practice Room

I loved everything about this fabulous two hander for women. Love the confinement of the space, the whiteness of it to really show off those colors, and the contained dialogue within, the tension ramping up, the acoustic tiles falling, the metronome ticking away and the world of competition giving way to one of collaboration. "There are only two women, and they are equals here." Brava, playwright.

  • Nora Louise Syran: The Slow Honey (a monologue)

There's something simultaneously lonely and lovely about this piece. Jonte reveals the courage, time and energy it takes to carve out the physical time and space a Creative needs for themselves to be alone, to write, to create. Not having that space is real loneliness, not the "eight million people who left you alone." (Nov 4, 2024)
