  • Nora Louise Syran: Elephant Dance

A lovely monologue that sways like an elephant's "dance" --from the joyful innocence of childhood (and the choppy diction of a child) to facing the harsh realities of life, to the realization that we spend our lives deluding ourselves, devoid of real freedom. Well done.

  • Nora Louise Syran: Captain Flash & Major Bang

A sweet collection of short scenes by a writer who not only knows dogs but people, too. Jonte will have audiences nibbling out of her loving hand. Set in a park, there's some fun action with a ball I'd love to see staged too.

  • Nora Louise Syran: We Interrupt This Broadcast

    A short and powerful minute.

  • Nora Louise Syran: Monday's Child

I howled! For any teacher who has neglected to give their charges (and their parents) clear costume instructions or not had the time to actually teach what they're meant to produce in public, I felt for the teacher in this lovely short piece by Rachel Feeny-Williams. But then I felt for every student too. That's the sign of a super piece. Great fun!

  • Nora Louise Syran: Ahavah

I caught the Newmarket International Festival's performance of this play online. Lovely writing, characterization and pacing. Love abounds. https://fb.watch/j5QVyqZKMd/

  • Nora Louise Syran: THE BALLAD OF HELLELIL AND HILDEBRAND

Inspired by one of Ireland's most treasured paintings, Cross weaves her own version of this old Scandinavian/Germanic tale. I couldn't help but sing it and it works beautifully-- all the way down to the lonely voice of the tormented Hellelil. Will she call out Hildebrand's name?

  • Nora Louise Syran: What Was I Saying?

You’ll never look at a bust of Socrates or Plato the same way again. I loved the serious student characterization and the deus ex machina moment. A fun piece!

  • Nora Louise Syran: Political Bedfellows

To borrow the French term for stuffing, this "farce" is stuffed chocker-block full of silly, sexy fun! It was hysterical to read and I can well imagine would be a fun piece to perform and even one for Rachel to expand into a Noises Off meets *insert your favorite political comedy* parody. Great fun.

  • Nora Louise Syran: When We Talked

Murphy captures perfectly the communication that any pet owner--certainly of a dog or cat--knows exists between man and beast. The characterizations are spot on and the subject matter perfectly timely and universal all at once. It was fun to play the cat in this play's first reading and I can tell you this short show will be a crowd pleaser for sure. Just the right amount of sweet!
