  • D. Lee Miller: Offboarding

OFFBOARDING is the first play I've read by Peter Dakutis. Give me more! Dakutis explores the corporate exit interview and hits the nail on the head. This painfully funny play would work anywhere in the country. Just two people and a recognizable situation. It's time we see this in festivals all over --- Now excuse me, I need to find another Dakutis play.

  • D. Lee Miller: The Artist Formerly Known as T

DC Cathro's THE ARTIST FORMERLY KNOWN AS T is one of the funniest plays I've read in a while. Laugh out loud funny. There are a couple of twists and wonderful dialogues that will leave you in titters. Could we see this soon please? Well done!

  • D. Lee Miller: How Do You Fall Out Of Love With Country Music?

I like Amy Singh. She's is brave - up front. Funny. An Indian-American woman who asks 'How do you fall out of love with country music?' in front of a southern Honky-Tonk crowd. Amy's honesty is a great trait - and we are reeled in listening to her story. Maximillian Gill is a writer who makes you listen. Listen to this monologue and see just how courageous Amy is.

  • D. Lee Miller: Milo & Murphy (10 minute play)

Is one person's needs so different from another's? This two hander is a big little play that makes you look for the possibility of Milo and Murphy connecting. It made me ask: what actually makes people so different? Our cynicism? Optimism? Elisabeth Giffin Speckman's play confronts us with a situation that makes us think about humanity itself. It is heartbreaking and hopeful at the same time. It is us.

  • D. Lee Miller: Riddles

This short play will not only question your stomach for riddles that may determine your death but also for the truth -- Four characters face death with one of them the killer. Amazingly written for just 10 minutes, this thriller may be just what your evening of plays needs to spice it up!

  • D. Lee Miller: Second Act Second Helpings

Take a long-married couple, reopen the virus quarantine where life was frozen and launch them into their 'second act'. Again. In Second Act Second Helpings, this couple that knows each other so well, tries for a change. This funny play about being lucky enough to continue growing older together would be a nice addition to an evening of marriage plays.

  • D. Lee Miller: Wonderful Guy

There is little constant in our lives in this age of progress. Some adore different cities' skylines, buildings, parks and orchestras, while others glam on to animals. In this care, Guy the Gorilla is the constant that Neil can measure change by - his own, the world's... Guy will not change - not as he knows him. And Guy knows his history. They share a common history. Josephs has written a sweet play that we all can relate to. Nicely done.

  • D. Lee Miller: The Angel

THE ANGEL,by Robert LeBlanc, will make you think -- From the first moment, you will think and rethink and try to outthink and figure out where this story is going. I love that it takes these chances -- This is is a big play with distinct roles any actor would desire to play. If you have a terrible secret, or even a not-so-terrible one- it will surprise you. Another well-written play by LeBlanc.

  • D. Lee Miller: Familiar

I feel late coming to this tremendous short play, FAMILIAR, by Robert LeBlanc. We have seen stories of parental dementia before but this play took me to a new realization. Through this visit, as we hear the clues, we hope for the father to recognize his son. And so, the heartbreak is woven in. A lovely time for them both, I was struck by how one can still get what he needs in such a relationship: connection. Love does win out with all the obstacles. Not a perfect love - whose is? But a sustaining love is revealed. Kudos, LeBlanc!

  • D. Lee Miller: I Love the Smell of Smoke in the Morning.. From 'Tales From the Fire-side'

I LOVE THE SMELL OF SMOKE IN THE MORNING is one of Dave Patton's most recent monologues. As an American, this portrait of a retired fireman may be even more affecting, vividly reporting the Glasgow when he worked and the Glasgow of today. The organic PTSD and flashbacks serve as an overarching backdrop to the breadth of his adult life. You may not look at those in service the same. Well done, Patton.
