This monologue is a snapshot in time of the burdens of living through this pandemic while still trying to be a whole person. Funny but simultaneously sad in her isolation even while out amongst people at the grocery store, our speaker guides us (and herself) to the end of the checkout with a possible human connection. Whether its a literal mask or a societal mask, we all have a hard time interpreting a smile from a stranger. This piece will leave a smile of hope with you.

This is a beautiful American folktale about Free, a special man with a special gift that, ironically, makes him NOT feel free. We all want to feel special, but when we feel DIFFERENT, gifts become a burden. The difference between special and different can be perspective. This play is very dreamy and magical. Audiences will definitely be charmed by Free and Stoney.

Ever feel like no one ever listens to you? HELLO?! This Jack Levine gem is an absurdist take on that one family who always seems to have something else on their mind other than the actual conversation at hand. We've all been there, and this play will have you nodding and laughing in recognition. Also, I'm sure the meatloaf is just fine.
  • "The Weight of Sorrow"

The setting, a painting. The words, poetry. To hear them spoken aloud, a song. A soft song and sad but not without hope as Arnold Anthony Schmidt crafts this lyrical 10 minute script to let us know that pain and sorrow may always lie just below the surface, but beauty and love is just at the next stop. Just lovely.
  • THE BELL WITCH

That was intense and postively spooky! A perfect two hander for an eerie night of theatre. Great roles for both actors. The script itself is rich and full of layers...even a message. Witches are only women who were wronged that demand justice in a world where they are considered second class citizens. This witch will get her justice. Well done!

I just had the pleasure of viewing this on the Ringwald's Gay4Detroit short film festival. I'm glad I didn't read it before viewing, because I sighed at the end with the actors. Just so sweet, sad and yet hopeful. When it feels you've lost everything, it's the little things you miss most. What a beautiful little piece.
  • Welcome to Purgatory

    Poor Carly! I know just how she feels...at least I think she does...maybe I don't :)
This is a great commentary on riding the middle through life. It's easy to do, but does it get anything done? This play certainly gets the job done. Actually, I kind of want to see what happens to Carly next!! The idea of "purgatory pods" is so intriguing to me!

Busser is at it again! This is such a fun piece! Rarely do you get a monologue play that is also this fun to do an audio design for! I can't stop smiling. Yet another great character piece in a brilliant take on call center work. This 411 call turns into a 911 call quickly and the audience will enjoy the ride!
  • The Age of Reason in the City of Angels

I couldn't stop smiling as I read this play. It may be set in a fantastical world, but it is all too familiar today. I am impressed with the world created here. What I really want is for this world to continue. To see more of what Anna can do with her intelligence and resources in this very changeable world. This may be the new fantasy series we are all looking for! Such a great story!
  • Antagonism, or, Some People Like to P*ss in the Pool [a 1-minute play]
    20 Oct. 2020
This play perfectly sums up social media, without even mentioning social media! If someone likes their balloon, let them like their balloon! There should be more balloon sharing and less balloon popping in this world. Thanks for the reminder, Steven G Martin!
