Wow. This play touches on the part of THE CRUCIBLE that stuck with me. The stoic, brave words Giles Corey was reported to say in defiance to the court re: witchcraft in Salem. In my youth, it was definitely the words of a hero. But in perspective, yes, Giles was likely as much a horrible misogynist as any other man of his time. And the women who suffered losses of family as well as their own lives are more easily forgotten. With the perspective of the future voice of Agnes, this play truly changes everything!
