Wow. This play starts out surreal, somewhat funny even. But I found myself entirely moved by the end. I am actually crying. This is such an amazing play that hits on so many important topics I can't even begin to list them. This would be such an economical play to produce and you will have audiences really talking afterward. I am sure different people will take away different things from this show, but all will be impacted. The mind of Daniel Prillaman's is one of my favorite strange places to visit.
  • A Conversation About Mom
    14 Jan. 2023
You know there is going to be a moment where the rug gets pulled out from under you in this narrative. You are bracing yourself for it, you think you know when and what it will be and boom! You get an anvil on the head instead. A lovely and sad surprise. But a conversation a lot of people need to have before it is too late. a really powerful two-hander.
  • The Meadow - 10 Minute Play

A classic thriller twist! Rod Serling would be proud to produce this piece!

This would be a lovely short film. The conversation growing in animation and intensity while the fancy restaurant in the background slowly becomes less of the focus and the relationship between mother and daughter becomes sharper and clearer. A nice snapshot in a moment of a girl becoming a confident woman with her mother's unwavering support.

This is a piece of poetry, a painting, a song you listen to on purpose to make yourself cry. I found myself fighting tears right from the first consult Mac had. And when Mom comes out for the final time, I gasped and just found myself so moved by the whole journey I had with Mac. So focused on the destination, we never looked at the places we were on the way. Gorgeously haunting piece.

This monologue begins so sweet and by the end had me saying out loud, 'Ohhhh." I picture this as the opening monologue of a serial. Many different episodes all taking place in this one home. This of course, being the ultimate episode. Imagine all the stories this house could tell. But this was a beautiful story that turned dark. Beautifully framed (pun intended) and told.
  • Today I will go to him.

Wow! This would fit well in a horror festival as well as a women's empowerment festival. The darkness backed with determination. And as an audience, we can surely imagine the target of the determination this woman is honing in on. Definitely a woman who has been broken down by cruelty and is about to break out. A powerful monologue.
  • "All Star" by Smash Mouth has been my Alarm for Eight Years and my Girlfriend Hates it
    8 Jan. 2023
This is hilariously relatable! I once roomed with a girl on a children's theatre tour who had an alarm of her own voice saying "Good Morning, Princess..." and all kinds of affirmations about how great she was. I dreamed about throwing that phone, too! A real snapshot of true life, and would be a great running blackout skit throughout an evening of plays about relationships! Also great, I am sure you could use so few bars of this song you could use it without ASCAP fees :)
  • THE WHOLE VAMPIRE THING

So dark and moody. Every sentence is a painting. I can imagine the sound effects of the wine glasses clinking in Vicky's back seat. This is like a classic short story brought to life.
  • Spill Chick: An Autocorrected Play
    5 Jan. 2023
This is just like trying to text my husband. But he doesn't enjoy the eventual spiral out of intelligibility via autocorrect. Instead, it fills him with murderous rage because he can't figure out what the text actually meant! This play is too real, and I love how autocorrect creates unintentional comedy. This might even work as a short film!
