Oh MY! The blood, the warfare, the fantastical stranger, the heightened language - this feels like the kind of thing Shakespeare would write if he were still around, churning out plays. And I know comparing something to Shakespeare feels very over the top, but it was all I kept thinking as I read. This violent fantasy play grabs you from the start and doesn't let go until the stage is covered in blood. What a crazy trip! I loved it.

This two minute play is fabulous. Prince Richard and Prince Edward are locked in the Tower, but everything will be okay - Edward is king now, so if he says it will be okay, it must be. A sweet conversation between two brothers made darker when you know the history of what 's going to happen to them. Two minutes well spent!

Oooh I like this play! Enough with men discovering a dead woman in a refrigerator to launch their hero journey - why can't a woman find a dead man and launch hers? (Of course, the man tied up in the refrigerator might not be super on board, but he's a bad writer, so don't worry about what he thinks.) I love the dialogue and the revenge on behalf of womenkind. This play is creepy fun!

I love Emily McClain's plays, and this one is no exception! Two female astronauts have been chosen to have the first pregnancies in space, only to find out once they're orbiting Jupiter that there's only one vial of sperm. What to do? This play is an engaging and humorous look at bureaucratic nonsense and times when a little rule breaking is in order.

Oh my gosh, this play is beautiful. Three manifestations of one man (at ages 18, 45, and 90) talk, argue, and learn to accept each other. It's such a beautiful allegory for our journey through life, and so powerfully told in only ten pages! I'm going to be thinking about this one for a while.

This fairy tale challenges what it means to live happily ever after, and I love it. It is so sweet and full of jokes for both kids and grown ups. I would love to take my kids to see this when theater returns!

This is a delight. A reality tv show set during the Bubonic Plague with a host on roller skates and a cast of contestants you love to hate, "Pestilence: WOW!" was a blast to read - but it also resonates in a surprising way, through all the comedy and madcap antics, when you read it during the current plague that we're living though. I loved the concept, I loved the characters, I loved the title, I loved it all. Here's hoping we all survive our current pestilence and get to laugh at this story together in a theater very soon.

I love this short play. Love, love love. A woman removes her vagina and now she's conflicted about what the consequences might be. I love the comedy, I love the weirdness, I love the revenge fantasy. It's so great. "Vagina of Vengeance" is so unique, and yet also feels like the most natural artistic response to living through the Trump years. (Plus the title is fantastic.)

Meta plays can be tricky to pull off well, but this one charmed me. I loved the reactions of the characters each time they learned what they had to do next, and the ridiculous ways the play heightened. Clever and fun!

This short play is so much fun. A frazzled showrunner is trying to get the writer's room to tell the story of Portia, her love for Brutus, and the assassination of Julius Caesar from a fresh, new angle. It is not going well - but every attempt is entertaining. I thoroughly enjoyed this one!
