  • Enid Cokinos: Garland, Gynos, and Gurneys

Megan Ann Jacobs’ play GARLAND, GYNOS, AND GURNEYS was a delightful addition to Christmas at the Playhouse in Westfield, Indiana this past weekend. I was pleased to be in the audience to watch this sweet story about young Chase’s dad and aunt working together to help him deal with conflicted feelings about Santa: jolly guy in a red suit or destroyer of families? Jacobs’ play is full of touching dialogue and wonderful humor, and it was a pleasure to watch it come to life on stage.

  • Enid Cokinos: A Requiem For Shermy (a ten minute play)

I had the pleasure of seeing A REQUIEM FOR SHERMY during Christmas at the Playhouse in Westfield, Indiana on December 10. Mark Harvey Levine is a master of short plays, and with his unique style and humor, he brings some of the Peanuts cartoon characters to life in this wonderful parody on “A Charlie Brown Christmas.” A perfect addition to any Christmas play festival.

  • Enid Cokinos: Ten Minutes 'til Christmas!

Brian Vinero touches on every possible holiday movie trope in TEN MINUTES ‘TIL CHIRSTMAS and I was laughing so hard I was crying by the end of the script. What a fabulous short play!

  • Enid Cokinos: What I Saw on Christmas Eve: A Monologue

A touching short monologue by Cole Hunter Dzubak reminding us that there is a little bit of the Santa spirit in everyone. This would be a perfect fit for any holiday short play festival.

  • Enid Cokinos: The Mummy Rises from the Dead

THE MUMMY HUSBAND has a 1960s Dark Shadows vibe infused with perfectly timed humor. Oh, the things Lilith will do to get her husband to help with the household chores! The actors are going to have a lot of fun with these characters. I would love to see this on stage, especially the actor playing the Mummy Husband!

  • Enid Cokinos: Scarecrow

I love all things Halloween and Dana Hall has created a funny, touching monologue for the season with SCARECROW. Mr. Johnson is going for one last elaborate Halloween prank to gain his teenage sons’ admiration, and I do believe it’s going to work!

  • Enid Cokinos: Cliché

A clever story written around every conceivable cliché kept this play moving along at a nice clip, ending with a fun twist.

  • Enid Cokinos: Inevitable

I love INEVITABLE by Mindy Roll! This creative setting for the engaged couple’s situation—trapped in a bank fault—added the perfect layer to this funny short play. What better time and place for Bea and Aaron to hash out those pre-wedding issues? Or perhaps, not? The twist was fabulous (I did not see it coming)! This play will be a delightful treat for audiences.

  • Enid Cokinos: Table 42

Chris Lindsay’s TABLE 42 is a tender, romantic short play. The characters perfectly portray the awkwardness and vulnerability of taking that first step toward a new relationship; made even more difficult after suffering a painful loss. This play would be a perfect addition to any festival, especially a Valentine’s Day or Love themed production.

  • Enid Cokinos: Two Late

TWO LATE is a poignant story involving a TSA agent and Clara, a passenger who may miss her flight. Two characters, seemingly at odds with each other, but as they share their secret pasts, they come together in a touching final moment. Playwright Allan Maule sprinkles heavier moments with a nice bit of humor to take the audience through a fulfilling range of emotions during this short play.
