  • Jessie Salsbury: Most Outstanding Minority Girl

I had the opportunity to see this at the Midwest Dramatist Center Conference 2024. This play explores White academia and the ironies that happen when those of the global majority are being discussed but not being included. A sharp, funny, real, uncomfortable script that was well received by the audience.

  • Jessie Salsbury: Shit Cake (one-hour play)

I had the privilege of listening to a reading of this work and look forward to a full production. This play isn’t afraid to look at marriage and how couples can play games against one another and justify it in their own minds. The twists of the two couples and the connection in their relationship was unexpected. Some great roles for actors to dig into.

  • Jessie Salsbury: Divine Truth

This is a one act that explores how Christian Science teaching can cause a break with reality when grief is not properly dealt with. Deb is great at building tension and with realizing interesting characters. A solid piece that would be a great addition to fringe or a conference.

  • Jessie Salsbury: Childhood Home

What a sweet little one minute play about homesickness. Well done.

  • Jessie Salsbury: Ivories

This is a dark, well-crafted horror play that catches your attention right away and holds on until the last word. Imaginative and original, I hope to see this fully staged. Brilliant.

  • Jessie Salsbury: Bearly Coping

A hilarious little 10 minute play that takes advantage of Winnie the Pooh entering the public domain. Cute and definitely worth the read!

  • Jessie Salsbury: Some Specter

This is a touching and hilarious play that I saw at the 2022 Inge festival. It had the entire audience entranced. John is a master at blending both the funny and the heartbreaking in these 10 minutes. Masterfully done.

  • Jessie Salsbury: 500/501

I saw this work at the 2022 Inge festival. Sklenar has an incredible talent to draw us into a fantastical situation with well crafted empathy and humor. Beautifully done.

  • Jessie Salsbury: Gun Story

I saw this at the 2022 Inge festival in Independence KS. This play sharply created characters that bonded over their children, only to realize one parent had inadvertently been incredibly damaging to the other’s child. It is difficult to pull of a twist of tone in a 10 minute play and this one did it beautifully.

  • Jessie Salsbury: TOUCH THE MOON One Act Play, 3 Characters

I had the privilege of watching this play at the 2022 Inge festival. It is a gripping and excellently crafted short play. This play wonderfully crafts images and time jumps to convey a mother’s horror at her daughter’s disappearance. Highly recommend this work.
