  • Jessie Salsbury: Miss Holmes

I had the absolute joy to see this show in Creede. As a huge Sherlock fan, I can tell Christopher Walsh has done his homework. Theatres across the country should pick up this play- it has great female protagonists, and at Creede Rep, they had light and movable set pieces and doubled roles, so medium (100-150) houses shouldn't be intimidated by the technical aspects. It is fantastic and I can't wait to hear about it being performed across the country. Must see/read for fans of Sherlock Holmes, and great roles for women.

  • Jessie Salsbury: Women Wear White - Ten Minute Play

I had the great privilege of seeing this in a festival in Kansas City. Necessary watching and/or reading for all women who can vote. I am a huge fan of this playwright, and her variety in the works she brings to the table are amazing.

  • Jessie Salsbury: THE MADRES

I traveled to Argentina and spent almost 4 months there, studying the Dirty War and its history, and watched the Madres march every week. This play is so important, and the history is necessary for every American to understand. This play's language and mix of Argentine Spanish is perfect. If you are anywhere near where it is being performed, it is your obligation to go see it. Glad it has gotten an NNPN world premiere and hoping more theatres around the country pick it up quickly.

  • Jessie Salsbury: FRIENDS WITH GUNS

Was very lucky to see this play in progress at a Unicorn Theatre reading in Kansas City. Everyone has certain biases and beliefs, and this play invests in confronting them. What if, even in the most 'liberal' mindset, we are closed off to learning and growing our opinions? It is, however, not a one-themed play. Women's self-protection and spousal relationships are also a strong underlying theme that push into the work. Well done and extremely timely.

Had the great privilege to see this read at the KC Rep new works. It is masterful how it builds a timeline just far enough into the future while wrapping into current events. The writer is masterful enough to keep it from being preachy - it is a suspenseful story that keeps you on the edge of your seat while causing you to question every bias. The entire audience was captivated, and in the talk-back, we could've discussed it for an hour longer. A must-see.

  • Jessie Salsbury: SHELTER IN PLACE

What a powerful short play. Poetic with bits of dialogue from a variety of characters, we know them all, who have been affected by school shootings. The language, the quotes, the explanations of what an AR-15 does to a body, all are powerful and this play is perfect as a protest piece against the senseless gun violence. The ending Narrator speech I read multiple times. It is so rich, breaking down the potential shooter motivations in poetic fragment structure. This writer is an expert in expression. Heartrendingly well crafted.

  • Jessie Salsbury: Time and a Half

This play has a punch of an ending. The characters and their voices are strongly written, and you can absolutely see them as people you would have known in high school and are now forced to interact with as adults. This is an amazing work in the way it builds and leaves you in shock, as any act of violence does. Well-created, and tragically, perfect for our modern times.

  • Jessie Salsbury: Viper

The imagry of this play is beautiful and haunting. A perfect Victorian picture of magical realism and an exploration into mental illness. It would be gorgeous to stage and create. This one will stick with you! Well done.

  • Jessie Salsbury: A Poison Squad of Whispering Women

The language of this work is poetic and perfectly reflective of the time in which its set. It is completely and beautifully symbolic that the white women through their lot in with the Klan to their ruin. Impactful and expertly created.

  • Jessie Salsbury: Ferret Ran Away

The dialogue in the play flows easily with the characterizations. This work takes a look at family and how two siblings work together when they are both faced with difficult life circumstances. Great play for college age actors.
