Wow - this is a sharp, quick moving, short play. There is a lot of tension and quite a bit of subtext the actors will really enjoy. Bryan is great at writing active dialogue that leaves room for the actor to breathe life into it - which is truly indicative of a gifted playwright that has honed their craft. Would absolutely love to see a fully realized performance of this one.
  • Thinking Offline -- A flexible 10 minute play for tweens
    17 Aug. 2019
This is a perfect play for a group of tweens/teens to perform. Very fun, and a good lesson for a group. When I was a teen we had a night of short plays, rather than one long play performance, to allow a greater variety of kids to perform. I think this play would fit quite well into that type of performance, and be a lot of fun for kids. A large cast size or double-casting is ideal for a classroom or school performance.

I desperately want be in the audience for a performance of this work. Absolutely different and challenging, this work places the audience as a central force, rather than passive spectator. Caridad Svich has created something that feels breathing and alive in the moment, but also timeless in its themes. Brilliant.

The character voices in this play were written so distinctly I could hear them crisply as I read. This is a beautiful play that captures the feeling of homecoming and reviewing one’s life through the optimistic lens of youth. Great roles for women 50 and older. Allyson Currin is able to craft interesting and authentic characters and I look forward to reading more.
  • Her Own Devices

Saw this breath taking work in Kansas City. Sharp and inventive, it asks questions of the morality of experimentation and autonomy. A perfect sci-fi thriller, masterfully done, with fantastic roles for women.
  • Seven Small Deaths

Emily Hageman has captured something that is frequently experienced, but rarely talked about. The dialogue is realistic and true, and the characters are sharp and strongly conceived. A beautiful short play that captures the difficulty of marriage in the face of infertility and child loss.
  • The Assignment (written with Austen Janna Borg)
    4 Aug. 2019
Borg and Plummer have crafted a beautiful and heartfelt play about a young woman wishing to interview a hero about his past. In few words, this play demonstrates the different thoughts of generations on tragedies that happened before our birth. Touching and a wonderful short work.

This is a thoughtfully crafted play that brings in a new perspective after a sexual assault - the side of the rapist's family. One of Lindsay Adams' strengths is to be able to craft work that addresses social commentary in an inventive way. I listened to a reading of this play in the spring of 2019, and everyone in the audience was engaged and full of questions after the reading. This is a strong work that needs to be performed in front of wider audiences.
  • Ghosts of Bogotá
    4 Aug. 2019
Diana Burbano has created a play that is equally heartbreaking and hilarious. Ghosts of Bogota is a rare treasure that re-creatively tells a standard funeral family drama. The dialogue and characters are unforgettable and sharply created. This work holds fantastic roles for bilingual Latinx/o/a actors.
  • LEENA: A PRISON INMATE MONOLOGUE
    4 Aug. 2019
Asher Wyndham has a rare and incredible ability to build monologues so they contain an entire world very quickly. Monologues must jump from the start to keep the audience's attention, and this writing does exactly that. I felt where we were, I understood the location and the relationship. What was especially amazing was the bits of the character's past that were let in, showing us the reason for her incarceration, but it wasn't overpowering or unnatural. Asher Wyndham is truly a master of the craft.
