A kind and thoughtful one-act exploration of different young voices all across the autism spectrum, refreshingly presented as documentary theatre and theatre for young adult audiences (and all audiences, really.) There are some very excellent monologues about facets of autistic habit and life in this script I hope actors on the spectrum gravitate towards! Very nicely done.
  • Ashleigh Says Out Loud the Thing She Meant to Say in Her Head
    23 Feb. 2021
Sometimes we just don’t have a filter when we’re talking, and this play takes that concept for a dark spin. A one-minute with a deliciously twisted sucker punch of an ending. Watch the axe...
  • Badger and Frame
    23 Feb. 2021
Scott Sickles has written a touching and powerful one-act about secrets, childhood memories, and friendships that transcend friendship. Simply, lovingly written. Badger and Frame’s intimate maybe-more-than-friendship is one for the ages, and this story deserves to be told.
  • The Natural Horse

What starts as a simple story about an immigrant family, a girl, and her feral horse soon morphs into an absolute fever dream of a play that defies categorization. Theatrical and ambitious and weird and strange and so deeply touching at times. Just... read or produce this play. Please.

One of the very coolest, funniest, edgiest, and necessary Shakespeare riffs - and one of my new favorite Macbeth riffs - I’ve ever read. I would KILL to see this staged.

A lovely Zoom ten-minute about a very intriguing date with just a touch of Dionysian magic. The reader hangs on every word; an audience surely would too.

Satisfyingly real-feeling female characters come of age at an all-girl college - and then it gets oh so deliciously meta. Adam Szymkowicz has written such a unique and captivating piece. I want to see a production yesterday.
  • 19 Excellent Reasons to Date Matthew Weaver (a monologue)
    16 Feb. 2021
Can I describe a monologue as “loveable”? Because this monologue is just that. Metatheatrical honesty by a playwright just putting himself out there. (Plus I LOVE that it should be performed by a not-male performer!)

If NPX was a dating site and I was at all interested in guys... these would be 19 excellent reasons I’d say yes, Matthew Weaver. I hope everyone who reads or hears this feels the same.
  • For Richard, for Poorer
    14 Feb. 2021
A neurotic, joyous whirlwind of a love story set in the moments just before Eddie and Richard are set to tie the knot. Eddie’s cold feet are warmed by Richard’s kind heart. A truly lovely ten-minute.
  • Ida Invisible
    7 Feb. 2021
This is a magical, meta-theatrical fairytale turned on its head. Ida is a fabulous heroine and the play’s message, exploring what it means to feel invisible, is one that will appeal to young and old alike. I really loved my time in this fantasy world!
