  • H. Avery: where are the angels in america?

As we find ourselves in an increasingly censored state, much credit is due to the teachers trying to educate fairly, thoroughly, and justly despite the limitations forced upon them. Donley's analysis of 2025 America and its Angels is a refreshingly humorous delight, with fun characters and admirable theatricality. A great read!

  • H. Avery: How Many Children?

Just a gut punch of a piece. As the play progresses, there's more and more to chew on as you slowly piece everything together. It's one of the best titled plays I've ever seen, and Dresner's voice will be stuck with me for a long time. (Seen at the Geneva Theatre Guild.)

  • H. Avery: Food Prison

After seeing this at the Geneva Theatre Guild, my friends and I are still cracking up over the line "I'm going to short-circuit your ass." The bot is killer and, despite the actual food restrictions, there is a lot of food for thought! A very interesting (and comical) dystopian exploration.

  • H. Avery: It Goes with the Territory

Charming and sweet, this mother son duo is prepped to take on the world! I saw this at the Geneva Theatre Guild and it was highly relatable and heartwarming; a real palate cleanser for difficult family relationships.

  • H. Avery: Wine Con-Noisier

A delightful little play about wannabe wine snobs and women who actually know what they're talking about!

  • H. Avery: MEDICAL CLAIMS MANAGER: A MONOLOGUE

Given recent events, I'm sure this topic is top of mind for many right now. Darkly comedic, MEDICAL CLAIMS MANAGER a fun take on a grim subject. I'd love to see more from this character for sure!

  • H. Avery: Quiet Storm

'Quiet Storm' is such a tender piece, with a constant prompting of one character to fill in the blanks of the other. It's melodic in that way-- and this two hander is an excellent opportunity for the actors to dive into what is unsaid between the lines!

  • H. Avery: A Judgement House is Not a Home

I am in love with this!! The setting is somewhat unfortunate, but the way these two characters create their own culture within the unfortunate setting is the embodiment of love. 'Tis the season for this to be produced, and I hope it will be!

  • H. Avery: PIETA

Wow. Captivating from the first few pages, PIETA is a tour de force with plum roles for disabled femmes. The text is empowering and epic, and there are opportunities for designers to have an absolute ball bringing this to life. I want to see this staged, and soon.

  • H. Avery: The Last of Jack (One Act)

With the death of third spaces and the gay bar being the only tried and true place to find queer community, there is some very rich commentary about battling addiction, navigating queer relationships, aging, masculinity, and making friends- and it is all masterfully done. The characters are somewhat petty and very sweet, and ultimately very dear. A beautiful play.
