  • H. Avery: i wish i was her(s)

What does it say about us when the country's most worshipped pop icon is the loneliest person there ever was? i wish i was her(s) is a humorously gutting perspective on American celebrity, internet culture, meritocracy, queerness, wealth, and isolation. And there's plenty of parody fun too!

  • H. Avery: Pluck

When people ask me what my favorite plays are, PLUCK is always in my top three. I learned a lot about writing from this play, but more importantly I learned a lot about myself. It's relatable, funny, engaging, and illuminating. I think about it all the time.

  • H. Avery: WEDDING BELL BLUES (a 10 minute comedy)

Southern coded, cute, and delightful by the end! The mom could very well be my own mother. Well done!

  • H. Avery: For a Limited Time Only (The Bread Play)

Bizzarely brilliant- at no point could I tell where this was going next. What a creative spin on the unlimited bread baskets! I'll never look at bread the same way again!

  • H. Avery: A Cause for Concern

Ooof. I did not see the ending coming. What a smart, poignant commentary on the state of things. I'll be chewing on this short play for a long time.

  • H. Avery: Unknown Number

Terrifying and creepy! The mingling of the off kilter voices are harrowing and bone-chilling. Mandryk has organized this piece in a way that in the end, your own imagination ends up being what gets you.

  • H. Avery: Breath

It is so healing and refreshing to see this accurate portrayal of a 30 something autistic woman. Not only is she smart, authentic, and warm, but she deals with the very real environment that autistic people find ourselves in (not a strange, infantilized version of it.) Simultaneously heart wrenching and heart warming, this piece is about the resilience of autistic women, which is simply not talked about ENOUGH.

  • H. Avery: Climbing the Corporate Bladder

Hilarious and grotesque, in the sense that this piece chronicles the insubordinate intuition that plagues the American workforce. In other words, a creative (and memorable) depiction of the ways people ignore their own boundaries in order to "succeed."

  • H. Avery: A Tale from the Deep Woods - Home Invasion (audio version)

What a fun audio play! This is such a great take on classic serial killer media and I was captivated by it the whole time. With heightened roles for three actors and a foley person, it would be so great to hear this out loud!

  • H. Avery: BONUS POINT [A 1-MINUTE PLAY]

Short and to the point, BONUS POINT is a slap in the face. It's highly effective in what it sets out to do, and the last line sticks with you.
