  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Marianas Trench (Part One of The Second World Trilogy)

Now normally, I'd yell at anyone who made me cry this much for being mean! But in this case its one of many emotions you feel as you follow the relationship of Teddy and Anzor, both beautifully eloquent characters. You feel like you want to protect the characters from the horrors they face. The play just gives and gives and for me it was worth reading for so many reasons but my favourite is Teddy's final speach, just beautiful and sad. I will be reading the rest of the trilogy because it deserves to be read, despite the tears!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Owl Creek

Everyone loves a good mystery but Emily's Owl Creek takes it to a whole new level. The suspense over what happened in this small town so long ago is brilliantly built with small moments to start and that is what draws you in. As the piece unfolds the story continues to give and give. Any audience seeing this piece will be drawn in, just as I was, with a want...no need to know what will happen and that makes this an amazingly written and compelling piece of theatre. Looking for a thriller/mystery? This show is for you!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: OCCUPIED

From the first line you know you are watching something interesting here. The characters are given such distinctive voices as they grow older and that is a mechanism brilliantly used by the playwright. Through the piece Aly brilliantly balances the innocent voices of Jac and Amelia with the horrors that are going on around them. As an audience member you feel privileged to know how the events they are discussing will/have played out but there is a distictive pleasure in watching them debate and discuss it. Its a piece that opens your eyes! Read it! Perform it!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Martinis, Dry and Bitter

The first giggle of this piece came three lines in, which has to be some kind of record for me! From there the scene builds itself brilliantly as women putting the world to rights over a couple of drinks. The way Celeste and Jimmy have their witty back and forth and analyse the scene is brilliantly done and I love the 'weather' joke. Coupling that with the brilliant ending for these wonderful characters and it could be part of a sit-com or a wonderful piece for three strong actresses.

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: A NICE SEAT IN THE STALLS

Judith certainly has a way with words! You could see everything she talked about in your mind's eye and that , for me makes engaging theatre. There were wonderfully witty points where you felt bad for laughing at the idea of someone's funeral. As the piece went from funerals to theatre I truly fell in love with Judith and her gumption for scoring free tickets! Then, just as you are settling into the giggles, there comes the very beautiful but very sad twist and expertly done too. This is a truly brilliant piece that I'd like to perform myself!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: A Wicked Slice

Despite the dark undertones of murder being committed off the fairway, I couldn't help but giggle at this piece all the way through! I could see in my mind the three of them staring off looking at Paterson and their expressions in my mind started me giggling all over again. John Busser is a playwright who knows how to do dark comedy incredibly well! Can only hope I get to see this live someday.

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Veterans of Community Theatre

Walking into a new community theatre is daunting at the best of times. But when you are just looking to meet hot girls then the Veterans of Community Theatre maybe isn't for you! Jacquelyn has created a wonderfully animated group of characters in the Veterans and then unleashed them on a poor newbie. From there the chaos ensues (as only it can in the theatre world!) This is another example of Jacquelyn's wonderful ability to bring various worlds to life!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: I Know

I've never read anything that appears so simplistic that has drawn me in so fast! If performed by skilled actors the characters bat the dialogue back and forth with swift ease. At the same time, they draw the audience in so that they are leaning forward in their seats (I say that from experience). Reading this piece your mind is sent a buzzing with possibilities of what could have happened or what will happen after the lights go down but at the same time you find yourself listening intently so you don't miss anything of this brilliant back and forth!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Waiting for the Line

The minute while you are waiting for the line to appear or not can feel like the longest minute in the world and Robert certainly does it justice. He has taken the paralysing fear of realising that you are potentially going to be a new parent, debating what could change and the fears and then he pulls it back round to a circle to end in a hopeful way, all within two pages! Incredible!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: GET SEXY ON ZOOM, a 10 minute Zoom play

Zoom plays have very much become part of our world and Andrea has created a beautifully funny piece! From the moment the sexy intertwines with lines that would be considered anything but "I have hairy Knuckles" you can't help but start laughing out loud. The conversation then proceeds into a tug of war between sexy and plutonic (a sight you can get a lot on dates) but just when you think its staying in the funny circle, Andrea drapes the play in a bit of romance and sadness. It does frame how difficult the dating world can be. Brilliantly done!
