  • Brenton Kniess: Simon Says

I’m speechless…Moughon writes a frightening horror that captures your attention from the very beginning. SIMON SAYS is well crafted that features snappy dialogue and Moughon is able to craft this story and world in very little time. I’m not over exaggerating when I say that SIMON SAYS is simply one of the greatest one acts I’ve ever read.

  • Brenton Kniess: Blood Pact

BLOOD PACT is a chilling short horror that is beautifully crafted. Cole doesn't give anything away too early which is a downfall for a lot of horror pieces. Cole masterfully builds this relationship so well that I can see there is so much thought that was put into these characters and the circumstance they're in. However, it's so casual and the dialogue is quick which gives this piece great pacing. The ending is a great surprise and is wrapped up wonderfully! Loved it, Deb!

  • Brenton Kniess: Photo Finish

Bhattacharya's PHOTO FINISH is a chilling and fresh thriller. Bhattacharya creates a really clever premise and the payoff is well-earned. Great moments of dialogue drive the story in an unexpected direction.

  • Brenton Kniess: Curtains Down

Feeny-Williams does an excellent job crafting this world and these characters in this cabaret-type world.
It's a unique comedy in the best way possible. It's not what you expect it to be and these characters come to life so quickly and they have so much purpose that it brings out the laughs in a truly innovative way.

  • Brenton Kniess: The Alchemist's Gambit

Heyman writes a fun and fresh take on this laugh-out-loud farce. I really liked the world-building and how these characters were woven into the story and the world itself. This short play would be an excellent opportunity for actors, directors, and designers to take Heyman's work and embark on a hilarious journey for audiences to savor!

  • Brenton Kniess: Hugo Saves Christmas...in May!

Hayet crafts all the right elements audiences want in a Christmas story. It's charming, sweet, and full of so much heart!

  • Brenton Kniess: Sticks and Stones

STICKS AND STONES is a richly developed drama that has a great flow through the dialogue and the action within the play. Taube takes a harsh theme and crafts something with so much emotion and humanity. It's a call to action but written in a way that's not overbearing over an audience. It's subtle and works so well within the story.

  • Brenton Kniess: Fragile Minds

FRAGILE MINDS is a fantastic farce that will never go where you expect it to. It's been a long time since I've read a comedy where an ensemble of actors gets so many critical moments of humor. This ensemble of characters is truly the driving force of this piece and Feeny-Williams gives everyone something to do, which can be a big challenge, but each of them is fleshed out and provides a heartfelt connection to each other. This will be a play that audiences will surely be able to relate to and laugh at!

  • Brenton Kniess: Would You Trust Me?

I needed some time to reflect after reading this play...and I'm sure you will too. First off, I couldn't help but think about Caroline Smith's To Die For when reading this. Pinnow does a great job of setting up the atmosphere and characters for the journey they're about to take. I think Pinnow's script is airtight. The fast paced and layered dialogue creates great dramatic action that ends up serving a tremendous ending. This would make a fantastic addition to any one-act festival!

  • Brenton Kniess: ONE

You will love Christopher Plumridge's ONE if you enjoy esteemed playwright, Annie Baker. Plumridge creates a unique set up but the payoff is oh-so excellent! This two-hander is an actor's dream come true. There is so much depth with so little being said. A real acting challenge and maybe even a stronger challenge for a director. I would love to be the ONE(see what I did there?) to bring this to life!
