  • Brenton Kniess: Cooler Near the Lake

Philip Middleton Williams writes a sweet, charming, and funny romantic comedy with COOLER NEAR THE LAKE. I particularly enjoyed the use of time within the play and how that affected these characters and the culmination of their past. There are some truly heartwarming moments that hold so much emotional weight with them that make for some wonderful moments as these family and friends deal with loss, love, and friendship. This would make a tremendous night of heart and laughter at the theater.

  • Brenton Kniess: Golden Kiss

Busser grabs you right from the first line! That dialogue structure!? (AMAZING!) This is a laugh-out-loud comedy that will keep you interested up until the very end! Busser develops this relationship and what they want (and don't want) in their near future. GOLDEN KISS is a hilariously bold comedy that will be sure to stick with you.

  • Brenton Kniess: Moving Day

MOVING DAY is a powerful heartbreaking play that holds so much love and emotional stakes. The dialogue is very conversational and you can feel the emotion just from the words alone. Ollett does an immensely fantastic job of showing the audience the relationship between Edie and Patrick, something where we can see that there was so much that happened between this mother and her son.

  • Brenton Kniess: More For You (Closure)

MORE FOR YOU is a play that is full of mystery, heartbreak, and genuinely haunting moments of dramatic action. Mackling does a fine job of building and displaying the relationships between these characters.

  • Brenton Kniess: Matter of fact or Fiction?

Another over the weekend read that stuck with me on another level. Ollet's MATTER OF FACT OR FICTION? is
gutting but yet full of tremendous power that will sure to strike up conversations at the end of the play. Ollet constructs the play with so much force and makes some truly bold decisions that truly pay off! This would be truly incredible to see staged.

  • Brenton Kniess: Mere Waters

I've had to take the weekend to digest this play in my brain which is exactly what you want from thought-provoking theatre. Jillian Blevins' MERE WATERS focuses on triumph and defeat. Blevins writes rich dialogue as well as three-dimensional characters that make the craftsmanship of this play truly breathtaking. MERE WATERS is a perfect example of having a great use of theatricality and is held together with a deep emotional core.

  • Brenton Kniess: The Great Gaffe

O'Grady's THE GREAT GAFFE is like the scotch that Scott Fitzgerald drinks at the beginning of the play...clean, smooth, and rich. THE GREAT GAFFE is a truly suave piece of theater that would be tremendous to see staged.

  • Brenton Kniess: It'll be Fine

IT'LL BE FINE is a beautifully crafted play that holds so much heart, compassion, and conflict. Molly Harrington Canu develops rich dialogue that guides this story along with characters that hit closer to home than one would think. A powerful read.

  • Brenton Kniess: The Tragedy of Daughters and Sons

THE TRAGEDY OF DAUGHTERS AND SONS is wildly entertaining and full of great surprises. All of the comedy lands perfectly. This play would be great fun for actors, directors, designers, and audiences!
