  • George Sapio: Quitting is, Quite Literally, a Bitch

As someone who's taken several agony-ridden attempts to shake off the nicotine addiction, this one rings horribly true. I totally get this crisis, every crazed urge, every excuse. This battle will have the audience on the edges of their seats.

  • George Sapio: Gravestones

If you love creepy things...cemeteries at night...this one's for you. Three friends searching for one very old gravestone, just as dusk fades. Not just creepiness, but family, the callousness of "progress" and loyalty play significant factors in this earnest, near-desperate search for a legacy. Beautifully crafted character piece.

  • George Sapio: Scarecrow

I **love** this guy. He gets it. Halloween has been watered down, we all know that, and kids have been kinda over protected. But this Dad...he understands the fright value of a holiday. And he loves his kids, that's certain. Somewhere betwixt the time when teenagers think they don't need you anymore and a parent's fear of being irrelevant...Ms. Hall has found the joy of prankstering...on the day most perfect for it.

  • George Sapio: Snowglobe

Economy of words and a maximum of emotion. A simple argument made defiantly, compassionately. Ms. Hall has created a world in one page; a strong mother who sees the future clearly, knows what's to come and still defends her right to keep her home and her family intact. Beautifully done.

  • George Sapio: Rolling My Own

You never get what you might expect from Mr. Bray. A mummy? The playwright has a knack for making the absurd seem logical, natural even. This funny, funny play (I read it three times just because) would be great fun for the right actors and the audience. (Not to mention the props/costume dept.)

  • George Sapio: Madame Medusa Would Prefer a Chardonnay

The thoughts of the Gorgon, the tortured musings of a wronged woman (as so many were in those bestial tales of random violence). Almost makes you wish you could wield the sword yourself and do her the kindness of releasing her. A powerful mono, perfect for auditions or strong-woman themed evenings.

  • George Sapio: LEE CRAGLE: A RN MONOLOGUE

AW is one of my favorite writers. This mono is short, but packs a big punch within a glimpse of what our beleaguered nursing staff have to deal with every day. One can only imagine (and tremble while doing so) the rest of their shift. An excellent performance piece.

  • George Sapio: Adult Membership

What does it take to qualify as someone suitable...for adulthood? And who sets the definition of "adult"? Samantha's interview with a rather strange institution that promises prizes for level of adulthood takes a bizarre turn, causing her to re-examine her own life choices in the face of what's "expected." Funny, unflinchingly direct, and a great two-hander.

  • George Sapio: Unfortunately

Hilarious and excruciating. RF-W beautifully captures the absurdity of what it's like to fit one's work within the rigorous strictures of play submission--especially when the opp is "judged" by a machine (which it so often seems like anyway). A fast-moving two-hander perfect for an evening of caustic comedies!

  • George Sapio: Singular of Dice

This one has teeth. A female killer who means business and a reporter who has no idea what "business" means. Oh, and a die that decreases the odds of survival in short order. Who's information is the critical information? Who needs to find out what? A great pair of roles for actors willing to stretch it.
