  • Emmet L.F. Cameron: Stage Door Blues (17 minutes)

This play uses such a gentle hand to bring the audience in on the moment when a long double life ends. There's no great explosion or direct confrontation depicted, yet we feel for each corner of this love triangle as it quietly collapses. Excellently performed & produced on the Theatrical Shenanigans podcast.

  • Emmet L.F. Cameron: A 3-act, centuries-long love affair (abridged)

I just thought of this play because I wanted to give it a shoutout on an upcoming episode of my podcast Theatre of the Mind about "time" -- & was dismayed to discover I'd neglected to recommend it already! A grave error which will shortly be remedied. This is one for the ages. Mabey knows how to choose a moment, & how to cram a long time into a short play while still somehow letting the moments they've chosen breathe. A mini master class.

  • Emmet L.F. Cameron: FLOWERS IN THE DESERT (the play)/EIGHT DATES (the audio series)

Donna Hoke is so skilled at depicting the imperfections in human relationships that can bring out an audience's frustration & tenderness by turns just as our own relationships do.

  • Emmet L.F. Cameron: LIARS ANONYMOUS

This funny 10 minutes has just the right amount of bittersweet bite under the comedy to make it linger like a strange conversation with a liar at the pub.

  • Emmet L.F. Cameron: It's Not You, It's... the Algorithm

A funny 10 minutes with a twist that will resonate with anybody who's trusted an app with their love life before.

  • Emmet L.F. Cameron: Childhood Home

A nice little play with a twist that will be fun for actors to play both sides of.

  • Emmet L.F. Cameron: Hospice: A Love Story

This is such a more effective take on the confession/therapy session as exposition than either can be on its own. The intertwining of these two women's narratives carry decades of history in ten minutes of stage time recounting some of the heaviest moments these sisters will ever share in their lives. This play is why there should be more room for dramatic shorts in contemporary theatre.

  • Emmet L.F. Cameron: Abstract Parents

To be or not to be a parent is one of the most monumental decisions in a human life, & this play really highlights how strange it is that we often need to make that decision in concert with another person, & that for some of us, the decision happens in slow motion over many years, while for others it's an event already in progress that they must respond to on a rapid timeline. A great one act with distinct characters that actors will love to embody & audiences will love to root for.

  • Emmet L.F. Cameron: Chopped (10 min excerpt)

A sweet & savoury 10 minutes that has great rhythm & imagery, & also really lands as an invitation to self-compassion.
