  • Emmet L.F. Cameron: How to Talk to Your Child About Satan

I love when a short play has a good twist, & this one is hilarious. Dramatic lighting! Nudity! A child's uncanny ability to say exactly the most embarrassing thing at the most awkward time! &...ecumenicism for Satanists?

  • Emmet L.F. Cameron: Dead Name

This feels like such a classic friendly ghost story, while bringing some fresh perspectives to the sleepover. It would be a delight as part of a middle school bill of short spooky/spoopy plays.

  • Emmet L.F. Cameron: The Curse of Eve

This 8 page historical scene says so much about how different people respond to the same oppression, & how those responses can impact their entire community, for better or worse. I want more!

  • Emmet L.F. Cameron: Little Happy Secrets

I just thought of this play that I listened to well over a decade ago, which should tell you something about its staying power. I was able to find it easily with an incredibly vague google search for "mormon lesbian play" which should tell you that we still don't have nearly enough of these stories on stage in 2025. Cheers to Melissa Leilani Larson for breaking the ice with this one circa 2009. I'll continue thinking about where Claire & Brennan are today.

  • Emmet L.F. Cameron: The Mermaids' Parade

This play makes magic feel as real as violence. It asks the audience to sit with a world that can contain so many forms of both these things. & neither makes the other less true. Excellent reading & interview on the Parsnip Ship podcast.

  • Emmet L.F. Cameron: The Wrong Bashir

What a romp! The Wrong Bashir is so engaging, funny, heartwarming, & an all-around delight. This play doesn't skimp on the specificity, either in the Canadian Ismaili experiences or the particular character quirks of this large intergenerational cast, & is so much the better for it. I highly recommend the audio version on CBC's PlayME podcast, featuring the playwright's own father in his acting debut.

  • Emmet L.F. Cameron: Ashleigh Says Out Loud the Thing She Meant to Say in Her Head

This short has all the charm & horror of a classic Kids in the Hall sketch. It gets in & out quickly & makes a big (in fact, lethal) impact in just 1 minute.

  • Emmet L.F. Cameron: Dead Wife Montage

This is such a well-scored slice of surreal friendship.

  • Emmet L.F. Cameron: The Great Disappointment (part 1)

This is how most of us experience the times that our descendants will look back on as pivotal (probably in ways we couldn't have predicted). We might remember the big names & dates & speeches, but we certainly remember the street where we lived, the neighbour we had a crush on, how our families talked about things, our own personal struggles that ran parallel to those that history remembers. This play weaves these elements together honestly at the scale of human experience.

  • Emmet L.F. Cameron: The Good Old Days

A funny, fast-paced, & easily produced piece with great roles for older actors. It's perfect for an evening of shorts, & would work seamlessly as an audio piece too.
