There are so many turns within these 15 minutes, & each one is executed so softly, from waking the dead to solving a crime. The contemporary style of the dialogue & delivery on the Gather by the Ghost Light podcast makes the story feel nearer to the audience, which is intriguing when working with a subject like postmortem photography, which a modern audience might prefer to view as bizarre Victorian behaviour, rather than something relatable to their own experiences of family.

This play is brilliant. It takes a skilled hand to guide an audience through such a wild imagined landscape, keep them laughing, & make them face centuries of violence & injustice all at the same time. Lisa Langford does all of the above & more here, deftly intertwining ideas of slavery-robotics-genetics-ancestry through the lives of characters that, while touched with the fantastic, feel absolutely real within the world of the play, & relatable to the world outside of it.

This is a concise poem of a play about a person living in a world that has made their life increasingly impossible.

A great innovative use of the zoom format to tell a fantastical & funny story that stays tethered to the real human consequences of angelic neglect.

If you like things that are perverse & strangely heartwarming, this is the short for you!

This play is feral & weird in a special way that only a play about very recent adults processing their relatively recent childhood trauma through the medium of theatre about whatever has crawled into their mind & is rattling around in there poltergeist-style can be.

A bittersweet 10 minutes with some thoughtful reflections on the recent past & a possible future.

This play could have made a meal of the setup, but it drops the audience in just in time for the fallout over dessert. Oh, & physically destroying something glorious & messy on stage will always be one of my fav symbolic moves.

There is so much running through this short piece about what war does to families across generations & oceans. & seeing it from 2024, we know there is a future generation or 2 or 3 impacted by this moment the way these young people are impacted by (perhaps forced) choices their elders made in impossible times.

Persephone & those 6 little red seeds have been speaking to the complex intertwining of femininity, food, & other appetites for millennia now, & Aly Kantor's 10 minute entry into this conversation is deeply in touch with the past while bringing a thoroughly contemporary perspective to this infinite conversation.
