These are eight stage adaptations of classic Mark Twain short stories, seven of them as 10-12-minute plays and one as a 50-minute play. The plays can be presented in isolation or in any combination. One of the short plays had a staged reading at the Northern Arizona Playwriting Showcase in Flagstaff in September, 2016. Another was produced in the Warner International Playwrights Festival in Torrington, Connecticut, in October, 2016. Six of the plays had a staged reading in the Mark Twain House auditorium in Hartford, Connecticut, in November, 2016. (The photo shows the cast--14 community theater actors from central Connecticut with director Chris Bushey peeking from the back row.) Another play will be produced at a high school writing festival in Webster Groves, Missouri, in March, 2017, and three of them will have a staged reading at a Mark Twain conference in Elmira, NY, in August, 2017. The plays vary in their adherence to the original stories--some are close adaptations, others are rather free--but all attempt to capture the characters, comedy, tone, theme, and general plot of the originals.
