Price does an excellent job at capturing the dilemma of balancing a career and a family. I felt for Cindy and Bo, and you could tell that they share a deep love for each other.

After re-reading the play several times, I finally understood the appeal that many people have talked about. I loved Cindy's determination into wanting to win the National Finals Rodeo with Sonny and the idea of her wanting her child to not witness a broken family (if I read it correctly).

This play was extremely captivating and I felt so deeply invested in the life that our two characters share. The subject of abortion is very heavy and often times very dramatic and this play was a great glimpse into seeing that decision in action. The stakes in this play felt incredibly high and I have a feeling I'm going to be thinking back on this play for the next few weeks to come. Wonderful work!

I love the way the perspectives are expressed in this play and how outspoken and honest the characters are. I also enjoyed that, even through the difference in opinions and overall severity of the situation, it is obvious they care for each other deeply.

  • Schaeffer Certenberg: That Midnight Rodeo

I thoroughly enjoyed this play. At first I was not really sure what was going on or what the conflict was but as the action ramped up I became intensely invested in the narrative. Price does a fantastic job of exploring the conflict many women have between achieving their goals and carrying out the responsibilities society foists upon them. Overall a great piece, I would definitely recommend.

  • Marie Lauderdale: That Midnight Rodeo

This play does a wonderful job at slowly revealing the situation, unwinding as deliberately as a lasso would. It is a brutally honest look into the different ways a pregnancy can affect people and their decision making. The truly important and unique part of this play is how it utilizes both direct and indirect references to the subject matter in a way that feels real and human. It places the audience right there with them, feeling for Cindy, understanding Bo. It's a wonderful play.

The subtext in this play brings honesty and vulnerability to a realistic choice that women might make when facing the opportunity to bring life into the world or follow a dream. It was raw, real, and emotionally honest.

I liked the twist at the end. The sense of hostility towards each other was clear. Also, the subtle hints toward the real issue at hand was great. I did have to go back and see if I missed them but it was great overall.

I really appreciate how genuine the characters feel with their individual wants and struggles with their current situation. I feel like it is very realistic to debate a baby vs. a career/dream. Overall, this play felt true and honest in its dialogue and the relationships present.

  • S. A. Ellis: That Midnight Rodeo

The subtext of this play is so clear and dynamic throughout the entire script, the word abortion is never even used, but within the first few lines I knew exactly what it was about. Sure, this is a play about abortion, but for all women abortion is about a second chance, which is all that Cindy is asking for. A second chance to follow her dreams. I adore this play, and the exploration of autonomy in oneself and one's relationships that it offers. Wonderful work!
