Recommendations of Red Days

  • Alanna Sawall: Red Days

This play so wonderfully argues the issues of environmental sustainability without letting you know its making an argument. Rachel Bublitz has built a beautiful story focusing on relationships. Especially post-Covid 19, where the use of masks is becoming a little more regular (for different reasons of course) I would be really interested to see this play produced and the physicalizaton of these masks that are essential to everyday living.

This play gives a great look into personal relationships, and how they are affected by the outside world. The development of these relationships throughout the show was captivating. Its messages and themes are portrayed in a heightened, yet realistic way. It will really make you think about the kind of world you want to be living in. A great read.

  • Kayden Kloehn: Red Days

This one will MAKE YOU THINK. And I mean it. It offers a sad perspective into a possible future reality where we are all fighting the air that we breathe. If you are worried about global warming and the effect it has on our planet and us, PLEASE give this one a read. It is a very enjoyable play.

In Red Days, Bublitz does a wonderful job of keeping the reader engaged while also spreading a message warning us of the dangers of global warming. I finished reading with a greater desire to take care of my planet. I think it is an important read. The serious themes are balanced out with thoughtful teen and family relationships. I would highly recommend this play.

Bublitz does a fantastic job of creating well developed family dynamics between characters while also conveying the overall message of the play surrounding climate change. Making the audience feel invested with a compelling plot, Rachel Bublitz does not disappoint with the coming of age tale of "Red Days".

  • McKenzie Russ: Red Days

I fully enjoyed reading "Red Days"! Rachel Bublitz raises awareness of the importance of taking care of our environment while detailing the consequences of the Earth's declining health. It is labeled as science fiction, but it feels more like a foreshadowing and warning for humankind. Though Bublitz discusses serious themes, she pairs it with a heartwarming mother-and-daughter story.

Rachel Bublitz uses realistic family dynamics to feed the audience her message of climate change, just like the characters in the text. With the state our world is in "Red Days" is a must read, not only for its relatable and realistic characters, but for its incredibly important message. This play serves as a warning, and that's what makes it so compelling.
