YES! A thousand times, this is fantastic and there's so much at stake in this short play. We never get to the crux of the situation, but then again we don't have to. It's absurd and brilliant. Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend has written a wonderful play about the foundation of love and going to the moon. That last line though, it's the perfect button. Well done!

It’s (almost) every little kid's dream to be an astronaut and fly to the moon. WE WILL BE WAITING FOR YOU WHEN YOU LAND, JOE!!!

    AND WE’RE TELLING BETHANY!!!

Feriend crates a thrillingly enviable situation, then proceeds to take all the fun out of it in the most sublimely hilarious ways. It’s the perfect not-sketch-comedy for sketch comic actors. There’s personality and just enough depth to send this sci-fi relationship satire into orbit and all the way to the lunar surface. While you’re up, you can leave Joe there! Poor Bethany...

Oh, just brilliant! This 10 minute captures more than should be possible with the format. Simple subtext, clear intention, and a perfectly executed ending. We’ve all told little white lies only to end up with our proverbial pants around our ankles with no clue of how to get out of an awkward situation and this play captures that intrinsic feeling in such an effortless and elegant manner.

Oh what a fun trip—to the moon! This ten minute play is a quick, joyful ride filled with laughs and a great ending. Highly recommend.

This play is simply hilarious! I love the device of a “little white lie” going too far, and “To The Moon” employs it to great effect. Joe’s well-intentioned mishaps, and the other characters’ balance between critiques of his choices and encouragement to do what scares him, are both endlessly entertaining and make all of the characters very human. This would provide fun opportunities for actors and crew, and I’d love to see this piece produced!

I had a feeling I would enjoy this play after reading the 2-line intro, and Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend did not let me down! I can see actors having a lot of fun and audiences laughing throughout. Joe was my favorite character; he shows a great range of emotion and you can tell a lot about him in such a short amount of time. The story behind why his character is in this situation is clever and well thought out. I also really enjoyed how this play puts women in scientific roles; both of the female characters are strong!

I love the premise of a contest winner absolutely detesting their prize but still accepting the prize to keep up a little white lie in a relationship.
Joe is in it deep and it is fun to watch him squirm as Allison and Maria interrogate him while pushing him toward his fear. And Joe does make some valid points about the moon.
Such a fun 3 hander for actors and designers!

Fast-paced, snappy dialogue, a unique plot, a well-crafted character arc and a satisfying resolution make this short play a treasure and a fun addition to any short play festival!

  • Jack Levine: To The Moon!

LISA DELLAGIARINO FERIEND takes us “To The Moon!” with Joe, who has won a free trip. All should be “A-Ok” except Joe never wanted to go to the Moon and has lied about his fantasy of being there to his fiancée. This piece has you wondering, if Joe returns is there going to be a marriage, or should there be.

There is nothing I love more than a zany moon landing comedy…oh wait. I had never read one before this. Even more reason to love it— it is so original and funny! I would love to see this live. I felt a little sorry for Joe, I must admit, even though he lied to his fiancée. Was she really just trying to get rid of him? I love the ending, too. Wonderfully absurd!
