  • Monica Cross: Last Writes

Timothy Gadomski had me at "Supposedly this play is unproducible." I take that as a personal challenge, and now I want to see it on stage badly! Why not flood the stage with actors for a 10 minute monologue?

    I love this play!

  • Monica Cross: The Alchemist's Gambit

THE ALCHEMIST'S GAMBIT it a hilarious play of dire consequences! Old meets New as a mad scientist is confronted with the knowledge that his newest "test subject" practices the ancient art of alchemy. With witty dialogue and delightful misunderstandings, we are on the edge of our seat as we find out if this Alchemist can persuade his way out of the dissection table.

Actors will have so much fun with this play!

  • Monica Cross: Boardwalk Concessions

Take a deep breath and dive into "Boardwalk Concessions" by Scott Sickles. Because this plays is a whirlwind and you won't have time to blink, let alone breath while Vesper rants about Mace and Kaden just tries to eat a Corn Dog. Punctuated with nuance and metaphor, this play is sweet and hilarious at the same time.

  • Monica Cross: Happy Talk: A Human Interest Piece

Wow this play is intense and subtly disturbing. Jaime Alejandro Crus creates a play that can work effectively book on zoom and on stage. HAPPY TALK: A HUMAN INTEREST PIECE has great back and forth dialogue that would be great for actors to sink their teeth into.

    Highly Recommended!

  • Monica Cross: Achilles & Patroclus

ACHILLES & PATROCLUS is a moving memory play told through verse. Alternating scenes between the young boys sparing and grown men arguing the finer points of war, James T. Washburn fleshes out the backstory of these two doomed lovers. Beautifully written, this play invites dynamic staging.

I had the opportunity to see this performed at New College of Florida, and the ethereal quality of the play made the tragedy all the more visceral.

  • Monica Cross: Timing is Everythi– (a monologue)

Scott C. Sickles is the master of science fiction. In all of his work, Scott takes a trope and turns it on its head. Here he takes an apocalypse and turns it into a declaration of love. And what a declaration it turns out to be! TIMING IS EVERYTHI- is hilarious on the page and I imagine it is hysterical with an actor how has great comic...

    timing.

  • Monica Cross: CONVERSATION THAT NEVER HAPPENS IN 99.9% OF NEWSROOMS

What a delightful short play! Adam Richter packs so much in to so few words. I would love to see this staged!

  • Monica Cross: American Politics (Tales From The Hill #3)

Whether you are trying to fit in or stand out, college in hard, and it's difficult to want to be vulnerable. This is another great installment in Sam Heyman's Tales from the Hill collection of short plays. In AMERICAN POLITICS, we see what is really at stake in what should be an easy class assignment. Brett struggle to vocalized who he is feels very familiar. Thankfully Elena is there to help him through it, and share her own badass experiences along the way. Great as a stand alone or as part of the series.

  • Monica Cross: Good Night!

What a one minute play! It touches on childhood ritual, truama, loss, and the illusion of the supernatural in a single minute! This play is touching in its economic repetition of Goodnight.

Definitely read it! Or if you can, check it out at Gi60 in NYC 2022.

  • Monica Cross: St. Francis

I was helping Miranda run lines for an upcoming production and after reading just a few scenes with her, became obsessed and had to know how it ended. So I sat down and read the whole script! and I am SO GLAD I DID!

Miranda Jonte's characters are complex, flawed, beautiful people and we are instantly sucked into their lives. Jonte also draws us in to the comings and goings of all the pets at the shelter. Every time there is an adoption or a hurt animal is brought in, we track their process right along side Tessa!
