  • Monica Cross: Music and God

I loved Hillary Bluestein-Lyons's MARCIE AND PATTY ARE GETTING MARRIED, and Scott Sickles keeps the magic going with his sequel MUSIC AND GOD! A beautiful look at the Peanuts characters all grown up, this play is so incredibly heartwarming. With classic Scott Sickles flare, this play will have you snoopy dancing in the aisles!

    BRAVO BRAVO!

  • Monica Cross: Breaking the Shakespeare Code

Breathtaking! BREAKING THE SHAKESPEARE CODE has an electric energy running right through it. Two people alone in a rehearsal hall making breakthroughs about Shakespeare, acting, and themselves. Told in three scenes, this spans 16 years and shows us how powerful the connects we make in theatre can be.

If you are looking for a two-hander, this is the script for you!

    HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

  • Monica Cross: When the Heart is Freed

As the author of the piece that inspired this play, I must say: I LOVE IT!!! Picking up after the events of my play THE CAGE WHICH HOLDS A HEART, DC Cathro's WHEN THE HEART IS FREED works beautifully as a sequel and as a stand alone play. This play is dark and funny and touching all the same time -- a DC standard!
The revelations of details in this investigation into a bizarre death create an increasing unsettling picture in the minds of readers and audiences. It is incredibly captivating!
I love it, DC! Thank you!

  • Monica Cross: Romeo & Her Sister

GIVE IT UP FOR CUSHMANIA!!! Jillian Blevins writes about the remarkable Cushman Sisters in her play ROMEO & HER SISTER. This play highlights queer history, explores female friendship, and teaches us that we all need to study more of the language of flowers. This is a fast-paced play with betrayals, scandals, and illuminating discussions of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Each character in this play would be a dream for any actor, and the design (a victorian theatre and stunning costumes) would be project any designer would love to sink their teeth into.

  • Monica Cross: 5 Stages of Applications and Grief: A Monologue

BRUTAL! Cole Hunter Dzubak encapsulates the helplessness of awaiting decisions on grad school applications. Billy's journey from optimism to despair is a biting criticism of the industry of academia. You go on this journey with Billy, and at the end of it, we all want to cry in the bathtub. This is a great monologue for a young actor.

    Well done!

  • Monica Cross: The Butterfly & The Astronaut

Three very different people from very different walks of life. But in this one moment they share a connection, even it is just waiting for the bus. This would be an amazing opportunity for the actors involved as well as designers. The characters are rich and the moments of connection between them are so poignant. Reading the script was an emotional journey, I can only imagine what it would be like to see it staged.

  • Monica Cross: The Girl Who Could Talk to Birds

THE GIRL WHO COULD TALK TO BIRDS take the fairytale trope of talking animals in a whole new direction. Gibberish and silliness ensue (and not from the birds!). This play is complete with the signature Daniel Prillaman flourish!

Check it out! Read it! Recommend it! Produce it! Bring all the Talking Animals to life!

  • Monica Cross: Christmas Carol: Fury Road

Directorial concepts cans sometimes go awry, but hearing about this edgy production of Christmas Carol cracks me up. I can see Christine's point of view, but also, I would probably pay good money to see this production. Emily's humor, as ever, is spot on!

  • Monica Cross: DECEPTION • WAR • RETRIBUTION

Sibling rivalry can go from fun and games to life and death and back in just a minute. Scott Sickles creates a dynamic scene with excellent physicality.

  • Monica Cross: After Aulis

AFTER AULIS is a breathtaking look at the afterlife of two very different, but intrinsically connected, classical figures. Aly Kantor creates heart-achingly relatable struggles for the protagonists of this 10 minute play, and by the end of it, you can feel the resolution they have labored towards.

Beautifully written. I would love to see it staged!
