  • Monica Cross: Matthew Weaver, Marry Me

MATTHEW WEAVER, MARRY ME is a delightful Metadrama about connection and mutual admiration. Philip Middleton Williams makes a compelling argument for Matthew Weaver to marry him at leave... at least on paper. This is witty and charming. Another delightful Matthew Weaver play!

  • Monica Cross: A Play (Not Only) About Matthew Weaver

A PLAY (NOT ONLY) ABOUT MATTHEW WEAVER is a testament to our playwriting community and to NPX. Larry Rinkel makes a delightful case for playwrights to write celebratory plays about one another regularly, even while presenting a curmudgeonly argument for the opposite. Another delightful Matthew Weaver (et al) play!

  • Monica Cross: The Known Universe (Part Three of The Second World Trilogy)

I sobbed, like big, caught-in-your-check sobs, throughout THE KNOWN UNIVERSE. Scott Sickles pulls at all the heart strings in this play. This is an excellent stand alone piece, and a show stopping conclusion to THE SECOND WORLD TRILOGY. We get to live a lifetime with Teddy and Anzor these three plays through their struggle, heartache, and loss.

This is a beautiful play that I would love to see staged. Bravo, Scott! HIGHLY RECOMMENED! Like stop whever you are doing and read all three plays!

  • Monica Cross: Pangea (Part Two of The Second World Trilogy)

PANGEA is a great stand alone play, and an excellent sequel to MARIANAS TRENCH. Scott Sickles peers into a world where polar icecaps are melting, two old friends become lovers. This is a play with urgency and heart ache, as our two main character reunite after 26 years of separation only to realize that their jobs of trying to save humanity and all life on Earth might keep them apart.

I was riveted throughout the whole story, as I cheer these too lovely characters on, hoping that they find their way back to each other! BRAVO! Highly recommended!

  • Monica Cross: I Have Never Met Matthew Weaver But Here's A Play About Him Anyway - Monologue

I HAVE NEVER MET MATTHEW WEAVER BUT HERE'S A PLAY ABOUT HIM ANYWAY is a wonderful tribute to the chance meetings that happen everyday as we go through our live and to the connections made online instantly bringing together people who are may be separated physically by cities, states, and countries. Elisabeth Giffin Speckman perfectly encapsulates what it means have never met Matthew Weaver, but still have been effected by his work. Here is to Matthew Weaver, and Here is to Elisabeth Speckman!

  • Monica Cross: Marianas Trench (Part One of The Second World Trilogy)

I watched a Zoom reading of MARIANAS TRENCH and was so captivated I immediately found the rest of the trilogy on here on NPX and am immersed in the rest of the story. Scott Sickle imagines an alternate history of present events, but from the point of view of two 11-year-old boys who share the move beautiful bond. Tensions are high, and the world is falling apart, but the daily struggle of being if 5th grade is equally as heart wrenching. BRAVO! So magnificently done! I encourage everyone to check out this play! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

  • Monica Cross: The Get-Together

AMAZING! THE GET-TOGETHER is a horror play through and through! Daniel Prillaman creates a visceral, sonorous, and totally unsettling world of a party that doesn't feel like a party. Something is horribly wrong, and the details we are given in this play only lead to more questions. The off stage action adds to the on stage terror. This play needs to be staged! Highly Recommend!

  • Monica Cross: Trivial [a monologue]

Well, I certainly didn't expect to be tearing up before I've even had my breakfast, but here we are. TRIVIAL is a play about facts, but those facts only serve to highlight the emotional connection of the piece. Steven G. Martin is a Master at distilling a feeling down to it's purest form and filling his audience with it. This is a beautiful example of that. This is Monologue about loss and love, and Morse Code. Highly Recommended!

  • Monica Cross: Glint

GLINT is a treat! So treat yourself, and read this play! Or better yet Produce this play! it has so many wonderful production elements to explore costume, choreography, possibly sound design! Scott Sickles uses demonic possession to playfully address the very real issues surrounding consent. SO WELL DONE! Charming and surprising! Highly Recommended!

  • Monica Cross: Robota (short play)

ROBOTA is a chilling short play about consumption and what we lose when we look only at the bottom line. David Hansen creates a scene vastly open to interpretation, and all the possibilities are disturbing. Highly Recommended!
