  • Monica Cross: Life Lines

An immensely powerful 10-minute play! LIFE LINES immediately sets the stage as grieving parents receive a box of their late son's belongings. Donna Hoke so perfectly weaves the pain and loss through each line of dialogue. Wonderfully written! I would love to see this performed!

  • Monica Cross: First Kiss (short play)

I saw this play as part of David Hansen's Short Play Project on Youtube. FIRST KISS explores the before, during, and after moment of that first, and maybe second, kiss. This play hits on the trepidation that accompanies even the most mutually shared affection. Absolutely lovely!

  • Monica Cross: Tour

I had the opportunity to be a part of a recent reading of TOUR, and it was a pleasure to be a part of the development for this show. I am so excited to see where it goes. David Quang Pham sends subatomic particles colliding into the world of academia and research as Quark tries to navigate the field of physics without falling apart. This somewhat abstract musical would be delightful to stage as you have students in classrooms colliding into one another like particles and workers in a magnet factory repelling one another's forces. So fun!

  • Monica Cross: Memory Card

MEMORY CARD has such a unique and creative premise: What if you stored your memories in a chip that you could take in and out? and What would happen if you swapped your card with someone else? Connie Schindewolf confronts the way people create relationships: we share and what we hid even from our closest friends. This play has fun roles for older women!

  • Monica Cross: The Grout Fairy

THE GROUT FAIRY is such a cute play! Full of physical comedy and whimsical solutions to our everyday annoyances. Fairy magic always comes with a catch! And Connie Schindewolf takes that to its most hilarious conclusion!

  • Monica Cross: Where the Sun Don’t Shine

WHERE THE SUN DON'T SHINE takes us to the subatomic for a very different Corona in the age of coronavirus. David Quang Pham dramatizes the struggle of the very fabric of the universe in this 1-minute play! A delightful read!

  • Monica Cross: Amid the Bombs, a Monologue

AMID THE BOMBS is a monologue of advice, framed as a teach speaking to school children. But Francis Boyle has actually captured the words we all need to hear in a time of crisis, and it is not just the students, but all of us who need this advice. This monologue is full of hope and kindness!

  • Monica Cross: Mel: A Phobia

This is a silly and lighthearted look at quarantine life. A much needed laugh!

  • Monica Cross: Natural Shocks - A One Woman Play in a Tornado

NATURAL SHOCKS starts at a break neck pace and picks up speed from there. This story about statistics and Hamlet and insurance conferences builds into something so much more! Powerful. Breathtaking. I highly recommend!

  • Monica Cross: Nothing Lasts

What a beautiful metaphor! Trying to rebuild what you think you have lost seemingly overnight. It has impact as a comment on Abby's mental state, and it has more impact as a comment on Jeremy's attempts to save their marriage. Kate Schwartz creates a a heartbreaking short play, which offers so many great playable moments for actors. I love plays that have interest use of props, and a pyramid made of Tupperware is a great example of this!
