  • Shaun Leisher: He Did It

I knew from the first few pages that this would be a play that would haunt me. What’s happening in this play are ugly conversations that we would love to just ignore but we need to confront them. Lynett has written a play that will leave its audience in a stunned state and after they slowly get up from their seat they will need to discuss for days.

  • Shaun Leisher: God is Dead & April's Getting Married

This play was a delight to read. It’s a time jumping, coming of age, buddy comedy that truly surprises. Can’t wait to see 3 fearless actors take this script on!!

  • Shaun Leisher: The Wind Cries Mary

A play that is metaphorically and literally about confronting one's ghosts. Reg looks to major figures of their childhood to make sense of being an independent adult. Time and space is altered to great effect and the rules don’t always make sense but that all adds the impact of this play being an emotional journey for Reg. Hilarious and heartbreaking often in the same moment.

  • Shaun Leisher: but you're okay

“...I don’t know it was creepy and fun.” This line comes about halfway through this brilliant play and perfectly sums up everything that happened before and will happen after. This is a play where many things can be true at once, despite how at odds those things can seem to be. The relationships here are messy which seems to be what happens in college. Things aren’t messy in terms of what happens but how it’s dealt with. This is a play about sexual assault that has no clear resolution the way life very often doesn’t.

  • Shaun Leisher: Regular

A truly unique take on a “fish out of water” story. Marjorie Muller has created a complex world where it appears that someone can live a “regular” life but like Kate we find out that’s not at all possible. I love how honest this play gets about drug addiction and personal trauma and shows it from the perspectives of those going through it and those trying to support them. This play is about figuring out Kate and the way information is revealed gradually is really effective.

  • Shaun Leisher: Tired/Merry

A gorgeous moment between two women captured in a haunting short play. Two women that are both on the precipice of profound changes in their lives discussing the roles of women in their society but more importantly the roles they play in each other’s lives. Really hope to see a it’d take on this play and definitely one where the possibilities for design are endless.

  • Shaun Leisher: Perennials

It absolutely blows my mind to think that this play was written before COVID-19 and stay at home orders became our new normal. This two hander predicts a post-apocalyptic future that should be far in the future but feels so of the present. Fascinating conversations about survival, mortality and God are happening and what’s I love so much is that they are happening with bodies you don’t normally get to see have them on stage. Perform this play now and forever!!!

  • Shaun Leisher: DON'T DO THIS TO US!

This play is hilarious and poignant and just overall insane in the best possible way!! Love how this play portrays how hard it is to be a teenage girl while also throwing in the struggles of Jewish identity. So many muddy conversations going on here that need to be happening.

  • Shaun Leisher: A Demon Inside

This play absolutely knocked my socks off!!! Horror elements are used to brilliant effect as a way to portray mental health and generational trauma. Things don’t get wrapped up neatly here but understandings are reached and we the audience are left with much to wrestle with. PRODUCE THIS PLAY!!!
