  • Shaun Leisher: Good Samaritans

This play went way darker than I ever could have imagined and my is better for it. Fargo really puts toxic theology on display and doesn’t let up on it. These characters are so complicated and messy but it was a blast to get to spend time with them.

  • Shaun Leisher: The Curtain Speech- A Monologue

I’m amazed by the journey Fargo takes us on with this monologue in only 3 pages. The levels of absurdity keep rising and I was so thrilled to be along for the ride. Genius use of the the curtain speech as a framing device!!

  • Shaun Leisher: Funny Valentine

A romantic and heartbreaking short 2-hander with some sci-fi brilliantly added in. The writer is great at giving the audience just enough information to ground them in this strange world so the focus is always on these rich characters.

  • Shaun Leisher: What's Wrong With You

There are very few plays I’ve that captures the confusion and pain of being a teenager as well as this one. Yes these are children but Rosenberg forces us to take them and their problems deadly serious and sit with them through it. Excellent use of multiple forms of media and I’m excited to see this fully realized with projection design I hope this play gets in the hands of young people and they’ll know someone sees their struggles and thinks they deserve to be heard.

  • Shaun Leisher: A Little Piece Of You

Maybe it’s just the woodsy setting but this play feels like a piece of folk lore. Love the places Rosenberg goes to explore a person’s capacity for both cruelty and love.

  • Shaun Leisher: The Discarded

Such an imaginative piece about finding purpose and a place to belong. Especially interested to see this play in the hands of daring costume and set designers.

  • These are the stories that need to be told during our time in quarantine. I’m looking forward to all the dystopian pandemic plays that are being written now but I am excited for the the plays about people still dealing with every day things and learning to how to live with each other. Rosenberg has brilliantly crafted this short play to depict a tense encounter between a couple about both of their illnesses that could only happen during the current moment. And like our current moment nothing is certain and we are left with so many questions.

  • Shaun Leisher: The Last Halloween

A play set in a future where trick or treating is outlawed. Doesn’t sound too far fetched in how Rosenberg writes it and it’s brilliant how she subtly brings in the gun control debate in this short piece.

  • Shaun Leisher: Spider Girl

Loved this monologue so much!! Rosenberg strikes the perfect balance between the nervousness that comes with being on a first date and the confidence when you are talking about a subject that you are very passionate about.

  • Shaun Leisher: Work/Life

As someone who has always struggled with a work/life balance, I felt so seen reading this play. To some this may seem like pure absurdism and a lot of it is but being consumed by your job is so real. I love how Swirsky shows how workaholism effects each character in such a unique way. This is a cautionary tale that needs to be seen.
