  • Shaun Leisher: The Measure of Innocence

Pearson breathes new life into this problem play of Shakespeare. The playwright shows great skill at subverting the classic text while also acknowledging it's place in theatrical history. Even if you don't know Measure For Measure this is a brilliant commentary on police brutality and white silence. Through the use of naturalism, poetry and dance, Pearson has created an indictment to white theatre audiences that I hope they take the time to sit in before doing what's necessary to change.

  • Two looks at the aftermath of one event. The decisions made in both acts are valid. No right or wrong on how to deal with this kind of pain. Sharma has captured everything about this past year in one play. Sharma has created complex friendships and roles for people that are so often tokenized. This is a play that you really immerse yourself in and consider so much about life and how much about it has changed since last March.

  • Shaun Leisher: 352

This feels like a horror play and not just because of the suddenly growing trees or talking cats. An element of great horror is when the audience knows more than the character. We know the symptoms Aurora is dealing with and all we can do is watch her stay in denial praying that she will soon get help.

  • Shaun Leisher: Fletcher

The line between reality and fantasy is extremely blurred in this short play about the idea of separating art from the artist. A fascinating look at a little known part of comic book history.

  • Shaun Leisher: For Leonora, or, Companions

A play about two women on the LGBTQIA and autism spectrum. Characters that we don't often get to see portrayed as leads and almost never happy. I was engrossed by the blending of fantasy and reality and how well it works. The monologue at the start of Act 2 is all I need to know about how this magic works. It's also a damn good monologue. Love how theatrical this play is and how it utilized so many elements of stage magic to tell such an intimate love story.

  • Shaun Leisher: to fall in love with anyone...

A really sweet rom-com play that also dives deep into some darkness about what humans will do for validation and personal justice.

  • Shaun Leisher: Get Hit

What started as a pitch black farce ended up being a heartbreaking play about belonging. This play went places that I really didn't expect.

  • Shaun Leisher: girl power sex positive joy ride

Such a complicated look at white saviorism among teachers in the world of high school education.

I adore plays about people with unique jobs. This is a play about womanhood and friendship and hoping that things get better. A short piece with so much heart that I can't wait to see produced.
