  • Shaun Leisher: ADIRONDACK CHAIR CIRCLE

This play is so of the moment. It's one of those plays that theatres around the country are gonna be dying to include in their upcoming season. It's a play about such a huge issue that is also an intimate character study. Walker could have easily written these three women as caricatures. She could have easily made them one-dimensional bigots. Instead these are complicated characters with messy lives and unique reasons for fighting the school board. Such a great play. Produce this now!!!

  • Shaun Leisher: Stockade

I am so in awe of this play. A play about homosexuals that fought for their country and now are fighting back home to be who they truly are. This is a play about people in American history that do not get talked about. People in American history that those in power are trying to erase from the record books. This is a play that deserves to be in the conversation of the greats of American drama. A play that can change lives. I loved this play and need to see it produced yesterday.

  • Shaun Leisher: (Ruby) Tuesday Night

What a dark piece of theatre. You can't help but be drawn in by Ruby no matter how cruel and twisted she is. I loved the breaking of the fourth wall as we are let into the mind and reasoning of Ruby. What a twist to throw Mystic into the mix so we can see how she reacts to what is happening. Lardner is very economic with her few pages when it comes to revealing the history between Ruby and Mystic. Bravo!!

  • Shaun Leisher: There Will Always Be A Moon Over Marin

This short play is so full of mystery. This is such an interesting piece about gentrification and what lengths people will go to to feel a sense of safety in their home. There is so much to think about when it comes to the ethical nature of the procedure. I was so intrigued by the moments of heightened emotion between Christine and Frances. She feels guilt though she is getting her dream home and he can't help but feel anger towards her for it. I'd love to see this performed.

  • Shaun Leisher: Issa Was Here

I had so much fun reading this play. A short comedy about two people hoping that a certain cafe tabe will give them power to craft a brilliant piece of work. I loved listening to them list off all of their ideas for projects. This is a play where Black characters get to be hilarious and a little weird, instead of just dealing with trauma.

  • Shaun Leisher: elephants

What a great short play about that gives a glimpse of what it's like to live and care for someone with autism. I really loved the motif of the elephants and rhythmic pounding. This play felt so specific which make it all the more universal. We all know what it can be like to be misunderstood. We all know what it's like to not be seen for who we really are. The ending really moved me. I hope this piece inspires more playwrights to craft authentic plays about people living with autism.

  • Shaun Leisher: Body Negative

What a great play!!! This play could not be more relevant as we are currently living in this time of body acceptance and Ozempic. I loved the use of puppetry to express just how absurd the predatory weight loss industry can be. This cast is full of people that we simply don't get to see on stage often enought. In theatre there is such an obsession with thinness. I hope that this play normalizes the casting of fat actors in meaty and complex roles. I hope this play gets produced very soon.

  • Shaun Leisher: Tornado Tastes like Aluminum Sting

I really loved this play. An honest depiction of a family just trying to do their best with an autistic, non-binary kid. I loved the visualization of the inside of Chantal's brain. A brain that is full of knowledge about movies. I loved that this is a play about an aspiring filmmaker that truly needs to be a play. I love the use of the tent and the 360 degrees of projections. I need to see this play fully produced. A theatre needs to get bold and brave and produce this magical play.

  • Shaun Leisher: We're Just Redoing The Kitchen

I really enjoyed this play. Totally absurd while being a moving family drama. About the sacrifices parents make for their gifted children. I loved how this play also manages to bring in the topic of women in sports and how hard it can be for them. This is a brilliant character study with some great moments of physical comedy. I would love to see this play fully produced with all the demolition of the kitchen. Produce this play someone!!

  • Shaun Leisher: ARTAUD ARTAUD

What a wild piece of theatre!!! I did not know much about Artaud before reading this play but I felt that I was able to follow anyways. A horrifying look at early days of therapy and the brutality found in asylums. I was fascinated by what this play had to say about the art of theatre and how it impaced the life of Artaud. Loved the use of Chekhov in this play. I really could not guess where this play was going. Loved how large this cast can be. Would work great for colleges.
