While it reminded me so much of Sartre's classic, No Exit, this play is so entirely original. These three characters are stuck in an endless void that they can't seem to escape. In between popping pills and snorting lines of cocaine, these characters have conversations about the meaning of life, the existence of God and what it truly means to be a "good" person. None of these characters are exactly as they seem and it was great to uncover their layers. This is a play that needs a production.

  • Shaun Leisher: One-Shot

This is one of those plays where the setting is as much a character as the living breathing people that inhabit it. This is a piece of queer history. These characters are products of trailblazers that came before them. Most of this play exists in a time where hatred runs rampant and people have to live in fear against those that don't understand them. The ending really moved me. So much has gotten better but we still have so far to go. This play needs to be produced NOW!!!!

  • Shaun Leisher: Inheritance -or- Brothers from the Deep

What an epic yet intimate play about brotherhood and letting go of past wounds. The dialogue flies in this play. You really get to know these characters as much as what is unsaid as what is actually uttered. You get to know so much history between these two characters in between their cigarettes, drinks and bullshitting. I need to see the battle towards the end of this play fully produced. So much to work with for actors, director and designers.

  • Shaun Leisher: [working title: STRAW POLL]

What an incredible play that could not be more relevant. A play about people that want to get along and hear each other's perspectives but refuse to actually listen. The way this play explores the idea of compromise and how money can muddy one's desiree to do the "right thing" is so fascinating. I think the way Malakhow balances the full group scenes with two character moments is brilliant. This play needs to get produced all over but especially in town's that have Pride celebrations.

  • Shaun Leisher: hand foot hand

This play is absolutely brilliant!!!! LGBTQ, middle-aged, circus performers are not the type of characters I've ever seen on stage and I'm so glad for this opportunity to be let into this world. Feldman has crafted 3 complex and layered characters that any actor would kill to play. This is a play about the art of circus and what it can do to the bodies and relationships of people that take part in it. This play is also about repairing a wounded heart. This play needs to get produced NOW!!!!

  • Shaun Leisher: Neighbors by the Sea

This play is full of potential for a skilled director and adventurous actors to really get creative. This play goes from a small misunderstanding to a catastrophic incident. It's not hard to see the parallels between what is happening in this play and what is going on in Palestine. Goldman-Sherman has a gift for crafting allegories that speak to our current times. I'd love to see this play produced and experience the conversations that it will inspire.

  • Shaun Leisher: Elf Wanted

What a fun short play that is sure to get any audience member in the holiday spirit. This would be a great addition to a yuletide-themed short play festival.

  • Shaun Leisher: I'm So Fucking Tired (But I guess I have to keep writing about this)

A brilliant response to our current dark times. I loved the way time works in this play. How it can be altered and how moments can be lived again just because we don't like the way things go. Lynett is such an important voice in the American theatre. What they have to say about the unacknowledged work that Black women have to do for this country really hit me to my core. This play will make sure we never forget what it was like when our country was turned over to fascists.

  • Shaun Leisher: much nicer castles

Don't we all wish we came from royalty? This is a very well-written ten minute play that is equal parts hilarious and heartbreaking. I couldn't help but feel for Rory as she looks at the life she could have had compared to the one she is actually living. Schuett packs a lot in such a short amount of time. I really dug this play.

  • Shaun Leisher: The JonBenét Game

I really loved this play. It's a play that looks at how we handle grief at different ages in our lives. Molly and Rae definitely needed each other to navigate through the world of girlhood. Later on, Rae finds a kindred spirit in Molly's daughter, Hazel. Rae reaches out and tries to help Hazel, even when that goes against school protocol. This is such a moving play about getting through life and the adults in our lives that impact us along the way. Produce this play!!
