  • Shaun Leisher: lonely people on the internet

A wonderful play for our current times. A play about what it's like to know people only through the internet. Loved how intimate this plays gets between people that don't know each other in real life.Loved getting to know all these characters and learn about the things that they struggle with in their lives. I found myself really invested in the lives of these characters and hoping that they would find deep human connection without their screens. I hope this play gets produced.

  • Shaun Leisher: Hurt People

A play about men being allowed to be soft and women being allowed to show frustration when they are deeply hurt. This trip back home for Marcel was something that needed to happen for a long time whether he knew that or not. He needed this time to find closure with his past and move on from what happened with Brandon. The relationship between these two men feels so natural. I would love to see this performed with two actors that are willing to go to the deep places these characters go.

  • Shaun Leisher: She Can Declare a Hurricane

A chilling ghost sotry that also explores the idea of forbidden love. What a great period piece that must be a blast for designers to work on. I can't wait to see this play fully produced with all the elements of stage magic to depict the storms. I feel like we don't get to see queer love stories set during this time that doesn't end in complete tragedy. I admired what this play had to say about the societal pressures put on for all women. Definitely give this play a read and produce it.

  • Shaun Leisher: A White Girl's Understudy

I really enjoyed this play. A one-act told in real-time that shows what it can be like to live the life of a Broadway understudy. I was really moved by what this play had to say about race. In this show, Lyn knows she is making audiences believe she is white and she yearns for something else. I loved the moments between Lyn and Andrew as they connected with each other being the understudies of color in this show. I really found myself rooting for Lyn throughout this play. • Shaun Leisher: DAUGHTERS of ABRAHAM

A short play that has a lot to say about what it's like to live in someone else's world. A thoughtful look at what would happen if a Jewish lesbian and a Palestinian teen had the opportunity to change places. I have been reading lots of plays lately that tackle the genocide in Palestine but few have this much heart. I was so compelled by both of these characters and came out of this play hoping that this experience has changed them both.

  • Shaun Leisher: Come Back Right

I feel like we don't get to see pieces of horror like this about queer women. This play is spooky and at times hilarious but once the ending hits, boy is it a punch in the gut. Kantor doesn't shy away from the big topics even whe she's trying to make us jump and laugh. The best horror is always also an insightful look at real issues and this play handles something trauma in such a nuanced and careful way. This would be such a meaningful piece to direct.

  • Shaun Leisher: Hot Blood Sundae

This play is a great excuse for two actresses to just let loose. A play that gives women permission to be loud and bold and be honest about the things they want in life. I really loved the casual dialogue in this play leading up to that killer reveal. I loved how this play brings horror elements into every day lives. This is play about the pressures put on women when all they really want is to be total monsters. This would be so fun to see produced.

  • Shaun Leisher: A Series of Meetings

I loved this play so much. Reich really has a gift for creating theatre that at times doesn't feel like exactly theatre. Their plays feel like gatherings where actors facilitate profound moments in time for their audience. This play is for anyone that has ever been a part of a bad meeting and wants so badly to know how to make a good one. I'm not sure if I now know how to make a good meeting but I enjoyed going on this journey. Loved the examples and loved moments of audience interaction.

  • Shaun Leisher: Goat Blood

Capturing true horror on stage is not an easy feat. It's been something I've been seeking for awhile now and I think this play does a great job in the scare department. The use of tone and vivid stage directions makes for a spooky read. I really admired how this play also finds room to talk about social issues like racism and homophobia. This is what great horror should be and I really hope a theatre gets courageous and produces this play.

  • Shaun Leisher: Veil'd

I loved how magical this play is. I loved the use of the fairy tale device. From shadow puppetry to physical puppetry, this play is full of creative ways to tell its story. I was so moved by the way this play uses the immensity of something like the unrest in Afghanistan to tell such an intimate story of this family. These parents only want what is best for their daughter and its so moving to see Dima take her life into her own hands. I need to see this produced.
