You laugh and laugh and laugh and then POW! A line hits you with the truth like out of nowhere. War is absurd. Life is trivialized in that absurdity. Sharon Goldner plays this for laughs and uncomfortable truths, exposing what war can turn us into.

The best humor develops not from setups and punchlines, but organically, from character. The deeply drawn, richly developed characters in this play start fast with the character-driven humor and never stop. This one deserves a professional production. Wonderfully engaging, funny, historically educating--an absolute delight.

There are so many stories to tell about veterans and their families and this is an intriguing take on one of those stories. Can stolen valor be forgiven if it's a homeless man just trying to survive? What if the woman who recognizes it lost a son on the battlefield? This wonderfully engaging play shows us how the competing values of two strangers clash, making us all question our assumptions.

Technology intrudes into the relationship world in ways we never thought possible 20 years ago. What's the etiquette? This play explores that with a large dose of humor.

A creeping uneasiness pervaded my gut as I listened to this at the Midwest Dramatists Conference. Two people who should not, could not be together toy with the idea. With neither willing to tell the truth, there's just no way for this to turn out well. A very well written play about a man who forgets this is all just a fantasy.

A scathing, hilarious indictment of our celebrity-obsessed culture, Sharon Goldner's Frank Talk makes us laugh when we fear we shouldn't and forces us re-examine popular culture and how we view our icons. This play makes you laugh and makes you think--a wonderful combination in a theatrical experience.

A captivating story on a topic that hits close to home for me. Quietly revealing, we see a relationship reach for truths that come almost too late. Powerful.

The best 10-minute plays bring you characters whose richness suggest a depth outside of the tiny piece you're getting. This is one of those. A complete piece about a girl whose life is so much worse than the house fire she just experienced. This one will stay with you.

Wonderfully rich, distinct characters. A complete play and hilarious story in a mere 10 minutes. I didn't want the staged reading to end.
