What a fun, thoughtful play! This little gem is easy to produce and a blast for some dynamic fem actors. Check it out!

  • Lainie Vansant: The Inexplicable Chaos Factor of Mia Gregory

I worked on a production of this short play at the University of South Dakota, and it was a very rich experience for the student director, actors, and designers. It's both challenging and meaningful, especially to folks close to the characters' age, and the team dug into it with gusto. It was also very moving for our audiences, who came out to intermission with tears in their eyes on multiple occasions.

  • Lainie Vansant: THIRD TIME'S THE CHARM

The juxtaposition between the church's elevated language and the silliness of this premise is delightful. Given the cast, this would be a lot of fun to see onstage -- and a lot of fun to direct!

I love that this play brings up more questions than it answers. It's both beautifully poetic and undeniably strange, and it invites the audience to wonder what might happen next.

  • Lainie Vansant: Got a Light?

What a fun play! Koppen has given Joan of Arc a fun, feminist tone which translates to agency in this quick, fun piece. This is a great ten minute piece that's not too hard to produce -- it's perfect for short play festivals and classrooms!

  • Lainie Vansant: Girl

This moving play cuts through the rhetoric around gendered distinctions in student athletics to show a real, human person on the other side of things. This play uses liminal/memory space beautifully and offers a lot of space for creativity on the part of its director and actors. Plus, it'll break your audience's heart. Great work all around!

  • Lainie Vansant: Thank You For Your Service

I'm a sucker for a story about dogs, and this one had me tearing up at its conclusion. Performing it would be a ton of fun for the actors, and it wouldn't take much on the technical side -- it's perfect for a ten minute play festival!

  • Lainie Vansant: EXPRESSION OF REGRET

In many ways, this play is about a symbolic gesture that is too little too late, but Johnson finds a more deft balance between anger and hope by the play's end. This is wonderful work that deserves many performances!

  • Lainie Vansant: & Sons

This deeply felt play is doesn't shy away from a single bodily fluid. The connections between these characters are nuanced and complicated. They would be a great challenge for actors to tackle. Check it out!

There's so much heart and specificity in this play. I was really rooting for Quentin and Zia, and I think audiences around the world, but especially in the United States, would love them and learn from them too.
