  • Ryan M. Bultrowicz: The Show Must NOT Go On!

This is a vibrant and hilarious play with masterful moments of physical comedy embedded into it! The janitor is a gem and deserves an enormous amount of applause. The playwright has written a show that no theatre would regret producing in their festival, truly a pleasure to read, actually watching this must be an insanely joyful ride!

  • Ryan M. Bultrowicz: A MASTERPIECE OF ... COMIC TIMING

I just saw the production of this show at my university and really enjoyed the zany characters, specifically Cobb and Charlie's relationship was a lot of fun. It didn't take itself too seriously and it had modern-day Seinfeld vibe. The moments of comedy are plentiful (obviously) and one that stands out to me was the play within the play. The boy being ripped apart by wolves brought me so much joy.

  • Ryan M. Bultrowicz: THE CASK OF AMONTILLADO, adapted from Edgar Allan Poe's short story of the same name

Such a fantastic story and Martin has created a really successful adaption here. I particularly love the theatricality of it, and Montresor's narration is perfect. The feeling of horror emanates wonderfully through this piece. A delicious taste of terror.

  • Ryan M. Bultrowicz: Hitchers

This play is to die for and the jokes are killer! Really, this is so absurdly funny. A chance encounter of two serial killers leads to a comedic and wild trip. It's a gem and was a joy to read.

  • Ryan M. Bultrowicz: PINATA

Mullen has created a uniquely hilarious situation in Pinata and it's a joy to read. The characters are so well defined and the way they're forced to interact with each other is immensely entertaining. This is the play about mothers at a birthday party you didn't know you needed in your life. Read it!

  • Ryan M. Bultrowicz: Penny for Your Traumas?

Funny, clever, and heartbreaking. Partain has created a powerful play about abuse, pain, and how you go on living after. An impressive show that tackles a heavy topic so well in just ten pages, this would make a great addition to any short play festival. Directors, check it out for sure.

  • Ryan M. Bultrowicz: Selfies & Ladybugs

What a wonderful and theatrical show Weaver has created here. You can always expect a high-level of creativity in his scripts…oh, and they’re also always hilarious. Just like this one, which features two quirky entomologists who are trying to take the perfect picture. One of my favorite things about Weaver’s sense of humor that emanates throughout his plays is the specificity. Trust me, this play delivers.

  • Ryan M. Bultrowicz: Being Wendy Wasserstein - A monologue

I love Wasserstein and her courage to speak authentically, to tell her truth, and that is captured so brilliantly in this monologue. This is beautiful and I think everybody should read it.

  • Ryan M. Bultrowicz: The Wolves

Fantastic show that really nails the spirit and tragedy of adolescence. Hilarious at moments and haunting at others; this show has the perfect blend. Super honest with its subject matter. There's a reason this play is produced so often.

  • Ryan M. Bultrowicz: Brine Shrimp Gangsters

This is SO GOOD. As far back as I can remember I always wanted to be a Brine Shrimp Gangster (not exactly the quote, or something I've ever actually said, but you know how it is), and now I'm going to be thinking about this show all night and living vicariously through my memories of reading it. Really great absurd comedy, this show perfectly pokes fun at all those old-school gangster stereotypes. And the audience gets splashed, come on, what's not to love here?
