  • Mark Loewenstern: The Inexplicable Chaos Factor of Mia Gregory

Beautiful script. It expresses weighty moments with a nimble touch so that the momentum never flags. A compelling exploration of mental health and the rules of friendship. Somehow Hageman also makes it a fresh and entertaining love letter to the theater told by someone who hates theater.

  • Mark Loewenstern: IN TRAINING

If all this play did was give you 10 pages of crackling, absurd humor for actors to dig into, that would be more than enough. But Carnes also deftly and accurately paints for us, with that absurdity, the horror of the working world. And to top it off, she gives us an object lesson or three concerning the exercise of power. So much crammed into this absurdly easy-to-produce, creepy and hilarious ten minute play.

  • Mark Loewenstern: Frailty, Thy Name

The pivotal choices that Gertrude makes just offstage in Hamlet are here given a spirited examination. Her fall and redemption make for meaty drama and a stunning confrontation scene by Ophelia. Sickles has written a thoughtful and fun "what if?" that fits pretty snugly with the Hamlet we know.

  • Mark Loewenstern: Once Upon A Bride There Was A Forest

A moving new fairytale for adults that takes us to the places we went when we were young, but translates them for who we are now. I was fortunate to see this play in performance and it was simply wonderful. Highly recommend!

  • Mark Loewenstern: BROTHERS

An inspiring celebration of virtue which is both everyday and transcendent. Carnes does so much with so little.

  • Mark Loewenstern: WHEN YOU'RE GONE

I love this warm and layered portrait of grief.

  • Mark Loewenstern: Slicing An Onion

Great build. Great finish. An elegantly powerful monologue.

  • Mark Loewenstern: Only Human (monologue)

A fresh and insightful take on a story we all know. I was fortunate enough to direct of a reading of this play and was happily stunned by how deeply O'Grady sees into the story of Lazarus, not the miracle of it, but the very human feeling that prompts the miracle. She then makes this relevant for our protagonist, and for us too. A moving, wonderful play!

  • Mark Loewenstern: Composure

Brimming with surprising insights into healthy and unhealthy relationships. A moving play full of genuine characters tackling real issues.
