  • Lee R. Lawing: The Road, Unexpected

Great line--"At home I would say he stinks." Funny monologue about renewing life once again when you thought the road you were one derails you for a strange detour. Romantic and funny. I saw this performed excellently on Talking Horse Monologues, Season 4.

  • Lee R. Lawing: FORGETFULLY YOURS - a monologue

Saw this performed beautifully as part to the Talking Horse Monologues Season 4. First dates are always such a hard thing to even prepare yourself for and when it comes to opening up about yourself under those harsh settings, it can be eye-opening but also enlightening about the true wonder that a person can give to a friendship or relationship when they just they can honest about themselves with you and you in turn do the same thing.

  • Lee R. Lawing: A More Beautiful Reflection

The myth of the vampire goes back to the beginning of time and the power struggle between thrall and vampire just as long. Sickles weaves a powerful and oh so haunting tale of two such beings that is as much about vampirism as it is a reelection of the abusive relationships that still permeate our world oh too often. That last scene will have everyone holding their breaths as the lights fade around Quinn, wanting to move from your seats and steer her off stage to a better exit.

  • Lee R. Lawing: Perseids

Glad this was the featured play of the day for me. A story about the attraction between two people and when there is meteor shower it makes into one great story of love and magic.

  • Lee R. Lawing: The Guest Room

A study in grief by Jacquelyn Floyd-Priskorn about May and Dan and their struggle to move beyond the death of their child and piece together a relationship that will never be the same without that child. Even though we see the darkness that has overwhelmed them, there is a glimmer of hope as they discuss the possibility of painting the room a new color. Sometimes, those smallest of acts can start us down a road of hope and promise.

  • Lee R. Lawing: Falloween

How could I resist reading anything with the wonderful title Falloween and that it's by Miranda Jonte, all the more reason to dive in and experience this wonderful monologue. If you love the season as much as Emily, does you are instantly drawn into this sense that Emily wants to make a change in the world and that's one change that I would be so happy with seeing made. I'll get an early start on it. Happy Falloween everyone!

  • Lee R. Lawing: The Penance - 10 Minute Play

This dark tale will have you on the edge of your seats with fear and tension that is so well earned by the writer. The dialogue is fast and funny and the ending one that will leave you breathless. This is a must see on stage!!

  • Lee R. Lawing: Commandments - 10 Minute Play

Sign me up for Harper's church and lists of commandant any time over what I was raised with. Being raised in the church, I have gladly since shed that upbringing and and when our son was born and getting older, we made the decision not to raise him in any religion as we felt that was something he could decide on himself as an adult. This play brought back so many of those memories good and bad but always with a smile on my face.

  • Lee R. Lawing: Submission Opportunities

Anyone who writes will find this quite funny and possibly horrifying as Cole takes all of the blood, sweat and tears that goes into the act and art of playwrighting and turns the submission process for one theatre in the UK with such outrageous rules to enter and you think, this of course, is hyperbole, but the writer knows that she's hit a little close to home than a lot of us would care to admit in our attempt to find places to submit we have all come across a few this crazy!

  • Lee R. Lawing: The Nightmare After Christmas

This was the featured play of the day for me and I'm so glad it was. It has a premise that I adore by one of my favorite playwrights that I enjoy to read. Jack is a boy after my own heart who loves Halloween more than any of the other holidays of all. Christmas not so much due to his mom's having died on that day. This Boxing Day tale incorporates the magic of Christmas with a sprinkle of hope where a brighter path is laid out before everyone and that is always the true spirit of the holidays.
