  • Lee R. Lawing: ANOTHER FUCKING WHITE DUDE: A MONOLOGUE

Shameful because it is so very true what many schools all over the country do this without anyone taking issue. It is changing and I know several professors who are pushing the boundaries and showing all types of art and literature from all races, sexualities, and genders at their colleges. The world is slowly changing and sadly we still have to push every day for change, and with this monologue, Wyndham offers up a battle on the drama side of things.

  • Lee R. Lawing: Mar Kelly

I love that Mar wants to get out of town and she has a definite plan. We all have had similar plans we have made to move on from something or some one and sometimes we do get away, and so many times we find ourselves back in identical situations and people and towns that offer up the same heartaches, puzzlement and friendships which are friends one day, and not another. Repeating the same things over and over and never really growing from them.

  • Lee R. Lawing: Joyride

saw this delightful play as part of the GI60 festival in the UK. So much fun to see it live!

  • Lee R. Lawing: The Rise and Fall of Socky

Farces are so much fun. Farces with sock monkeys even more so. Arnold offers a cute take on what it really takes to get a hit on the stage in this day and age and I can see it all now, especially my socky mug souvenir from the next greatest show on the Great Way Way.

  • Lee R. Lawing: For the Soul

Not an easy play to read, but one that is so well done and executed. I love Cathro's writing, the setting and the turn of events that will shock whoever sees or reads this one. Bravo!

  • Lee R. Lawing: 20

Such a gut-wrenching and very personal monologue whose scope reaches beyond the individual talking and inward to the reader. These words are passionate and so very truthful about loss and grief and healing which is all so very personal and sometimes a devastating road to travel, but which is should be a collective one when it comes to national tragedies.

  • Lee R. Lawing: Cupid

I enjoy Priskorn's work so much and this is no different. I was drawn to the title and I was thinking in my head it was going to comedic gem and it is that indeed, but very dark and that only adds to the pleasure of the read and of seeing it in person. The thing about those who love god so much, they've forgotten so many of the basics of just being able to love without worrying whether the soul is going somewhere after death. For me, my bet is on Amy in this love tug of war!

  • Lee R. Lawing: The Bear - Crib of Doom

As we all know, you can't truly know a person unless we walk in their shoes. Double that for Plumridge's bear who has a very unusually story to tell and needs help from someone to save him from his crib entrapment. As he even says in the play, he's not the usual bear and for this we are all grateful! I definitely want to hear his origin story!

  • Lee R. Lawing: SOME SCHOOL BUS DRIVER: A MONOLOGUE

This is pure poetry and shows really that there is not a Christian person anymore that isn't after their own personal gain at the expense of all others who don't have those same evil plans. Omar speaks for all immigrants in this country who have faced such hatred at the hands of these "Christians," Actually, if there is still a faction of that religion that is living up to the true teaching of Christ, they should change their name. I love that Omar knows every child on his bus and has included something just for that child. Let Omar Decorate!

  • Lee R. Lawing: Roadkill

Lost loves that were truly special are always ones we circle back to at some point for a fond memory or even a little regret that it's ended or is over. Roadkill gives us such a couple in Bud and Charlie. Dreams are a funny thing we all have them, but some people have them much more vividly and remember them in such detail. For Bud that's a good thing, because even if he feels his dream will eventually come true, for one night it won't just because this once lost love might just be awakening once again.
