  • Emily McClain: NIXIN' NIXON (10 Minute Play)

This 10 minute play provides an amazing window into the lives of these two young women: their friendship, quirks, and fears. The reveal/button at the end of the piece is a perfect ending as well! Fantastic job!

  • Emily McClain: Three Seconds To Midnight

I deeply enjoy any story that pulls the curtain back on supernatural beings or mythological figures, and Mabey does a brilliant job with the role of Father Time in this short play. The emotional life between the two central characters in incredibly rich-- I would LOVE to see this play staged! Wonderful work!

  • Emily McClain: Grown-Ass Louis

This is an aboslutely incredible play! Easily one of the best I have ever read. Walsh's ability to create a world that is evocative of dream-reality and grounded in authentic emotion is nothing short of brilliant. The visual imagination of the piece is genius, and the human connection with grieving is astonishing. I am in awe of the work. Read this play.

  • Emily McClain: Password: 2020 Escape Room [a 1-minute play]

This play is clever and terrifying! Such a wonderful set up and the ending delivers a gut-punch that is totally earned. Kudos to Martin for cramming all the chaos of 2020 into one minute. Can we get out now, please? :)

  • Emily McClain: Quentin Tarantino's PG-13 Crime Movie

This is a fantastic comedy for fans of Tarantino, Sam Jackson, and satire about the increasing control the "House of Mouse" has over popular media. Worth it just for the brilliant variety of not-swear-word swearing variations! A really fun read! Great work!

  • Emily McClain: I Knew Him

How do you sum up a whole life in the span of a stage door meet-and-greet? DC Cathro brings his amazing skill of deftly-handled dialogue and masterful storytelling to this emotional and truly heartfelt play. It's an exceptional exploration of grief and legacy. Beautiful, engaging, and an absolute rockstar part for an African-American actress. Read and produce this play!

  • Emily McClain: For Richard, for Poorer

Somewhere in and among Eddie's nervous, neurotic, exasperating pre-wedding ramblings, Steven G. Martin sows the seeds of a deeply moving and authentic love story. Richard is a calming oasis for Eddie's whirlwind energy and it's clear they are actually perfect for each other by the end of the play. Highly recommend!

  • Emily McClain: Marcie and Patty Are Getting Married

This is a wonderful love-letter to the Peanuts gang, all grown up. Marcie and Patty each want the other to have the most perfect wedding day, while Schroder and Sally are trying their best to help them make that happen. The physical comedy is ever-present, but it never overshadows the love at the "heart" of this play. The ending moments are so satisfying!

  • Emily McClain: A YEAR OF HOPE FOR THE JETS FAN

The devotion of a sports fan knows no limits, it seems, and Hank Kimmel does a wonderful job bringing that devotion to an inevitable conclusion when Meco is given the option to help push his beloved Jets *just* a little bit when they desperately need it. Darkly comic and twisted but always thoroughly enjoyable! (Avoid showing to your friends with golden retrievers though)

  • Emily McClain: The Furniture Store

If you mixed the strangely sinister podcast Welcome to Nightvale, and the snarkiness of The cartoon Archer together, you’d have a close approximation to this wonderfully bizarre and darkly irreverent comedy. THE FURNITURE STORE riffs on some excellent surreal notes, capturing absurdist existential crisis as only Prillaman can.

Although I *do* want to try that mattress....
